Picked up a 2015 Limited last week

First order of business was to remove the chrome tailgate letters. They appear to be foam backed with glue on the foam. I was able to remove the majority of the foam and all of the letters, however a good portion of the glue and some foam has hardened and I cannot for the life of me get it cleaned up.

I have tried mineral spirits, WD40, goo gone, a plastic non marring scraper and my fingernails...I have applied heat from a hairdryer and let it sit baking in the sun before working on it

    Any suggestions??

Try a 3M Eraser wheel. Removed my pinstripes with one. Used my cordless drill. Make sure you charge them up, it will burn a battery up quick . I was pleased with the results

Yes there safe, shop around, I got one off Amazon for around $20. There are cheaper options vs 3m. I used my wife's nail polish remover to clean the residue up. Acetone won't mess with your clear coat either.

Be careful on some, the head and speed could "burn" the paint, I have a red caddy that had a mad yellow tint after taking the adhesive off from the CTS letters on the trunk

That's kind of been my concern but I figure the pricey 3M is less likely than the $10 Amazon one

Mine is the one snap on carries for about 15 bucks, just know it's made to be softer than clear coat so it'll shoot rubber off the wheel when used so it's ok, just be slow and watch the speed, I'm seeing if some light wet sanding would make the yellow go away and I'll post back when I do it

If all the foam is gone, just tacky sticky adhesive, try goo be gone. Worked great for me. Since its a vertical side, get a rag saturated in it and hold against it to soak for a few minutes. Then rub it all off.

Never mind see you tried it already.

That's the eraser wheel I also used and had zero issues. Just don't go crazy with a high speed and you'll be fine. I used Goof Off spray to get the remaining residue off and then followed with a quick soap and water wash and spray wax.

Yes I used something similar, wish I would've found this one. Yes speed is critical, but there's no need to put a ton of pressure on it.

Looks like you've tried what I used to successfully remove the chrome badges. It takes time, perseverance, and patience. Use WD-40, Goof-off, or goo-gone and scrape with a plastic scraper. Clean with an all-purpose surface cleaner, then repeat. On some larger spots, I would soak a paper towel with goof-off, tape it over the sticky spot, and let it soak for a bit.

Edit: I should add that there are two formulas of goof-off. The one in the metal can is basically acetone, the spray bottle is less harsh. Use the spray.

    Same.

The body shop just removed all other badges as a courtesy for me and they used a rubber wheel. I think I can handle the tailgate letters. Changing from black and chrome tailgate letters to blacked out American flag.

    Ok rubber wheel works wonders

Best I can tell, previous owner used gorilla glue to secure the chrome letters

The 3m wheel took it right off with ease and a little goof off to help

I have had good luck with the 3M adhesive remover/cleaner in the past. It was about $20 bucks a can but worked really well.
