Can someone tell me how many amps a 2007 DC 5.7 can afford for an upgraded audio system before running into problems? Big three is done, but no upgraded alternator, or battery.

Not sure of that specific # yet if I had a high amp draw device like a stereo, I'd add a 2nd battery and isolator along with heavy duty capacitors for bursts of bass...

I have equipment from a system. I was going to install it in a car I used to have, but I ended up selling it before I installed the system. I want to try to build it in my Tundra. Amplifiers alone have a max draw of 209 amps. I know they never actually draw that much, but I m pretty sure it s all too much for the stock alternator.

    Stock, for now
The total amps is very different from “used” amps. Unless you are playing 100% bass all the time (meaning Competition grade bass) you will not be needing those 100% amps all the time.
My guess is that heavy bass listeners will need about 50 to 60% of those amps. Normal listeners will use 25 to 35%.
How many amps does your alternator produce?
What kind of listeners are you?

Did your truck come with the factory 130 amp alternator? Call the dealer and have your vin run. A second battery with a isolator switch is a great option as stated above.

Dealer says it has a 150 amp alternator. I determined the max amp draw by the fuses on the amps. my 4 ch has 2 at 40 amps, and mono block requires an external 120 fuse. It would be a daily driver sound system. No competition. I would nt want to install it all without doing something. I started looking at high output alternators, but decided against it. An extra battery sounds like it s the way to go.
