I started my new job as a stripper today. :D My boy and I removed all the way up to the stereo. It will be a slow process, but I hope to have it done by the weekend. I'm going to go with most of *********' setup, but I'm hoping to do the dash speakers differently.

Not worth it! If AJT Designs did a smooth cover, I wouldn't have done any of this.

Made some tweeter blanks and a center blank. Ran the wiring from speaker mounts to center console. I'm going to use a different brand for the center tweeters, and I hope it's not over powering.

Two (potentially dumb) questions for you:

    1. I assume you're replacing the factory speaker amp (under the passenger seat)?
    2. If so - are you mounting the amp like the factory amp was mounted, or does it just sit on the ground somewhere?

I'm just putting my 5 channel under the driver seat. I might look into making a board for the passenger side though. Not there quit yet.

If your driver's seat goes up and down that's a bad idea. My guess is the factory amp is under the passenger side because none of the passenger side seats move up and down.

I got back into it today. More noico in the front doors and the wall behind the rear window. Finished running wire to the rear doors. Installed front mids. Next I hope to tackle the front highs.

With those front door mid-woofers...can that adapter be flipped around so the speaker sits more rearward? I'm not sure with that adapter in particular but make sure it lines the speaker up with the hole in the door panel. The one I used initially had ⅓ of the speaker covered by the door panel because the hole is off-center but should be off-center towards the rear off the door and not the front of the door.

The adapters won't flip around and recess on either side. I did recheck after you mentioned it though.

Didn't get much done today. The vents are back in the middle though. Can anyone help me with bolt placement on the passenger side please? :(

Did some fine tuning yesterday. The door speakers were too deep, so I had to add a 1/4" trim ring. There was also a noticeable gap between the door and the speaker adapter. Got all 4 doors done with the exception of the rear tweeters. That's going to be an interesting setup.

Getting ready for lockdown! Between errands and being teacher dad, I had time to put the dash back together, run power for the amp, run power for the rock light switch, and put the tweeters in the dash. Still need to figure out a center channel mount and mounting the amp and EZQ.

Got quite a bit done over the weekend. I hooked up and tested the EZQ and amp, got x-overs installed, all speakers except the center channel, wired my light switch in, and put most of the truck back together. The mids and highs are ridiculously loud. I tested one speaker at a time and a front component alone was louder than the stock stereo. I got to the subs, and one is blown. :( I'm currently fighting the box to get it far enough back to put the rear seat in. Other than that I'm happy with how it turned out. I did have to modify a couple of things on the rear door though. The tweeters from the rear components were just small enough to fit into the factory location. The back was flush with the back of the mount, so I glued them into place. The speaker cutout for the door had a lip that would seal the factory foam, but it wouldn't allow my panel to seat. It was easy enough to trim out with an xacto knife.

Got the rear done! I got to chat with someone on the "place that shall not be named" site and they said to tighten the rear bolts first. It worked and I'm happy to have it complete. I still haven't put the sill plates or kick panels on the front yet. I'm doing a bed light and pop a lock this week, so I don't want to pop them out a ton of times.

Knocked out the center channel earlier. I ran two Boston Pro Series 1 inch tweeters(8 ohm per) as my center. I tried them in series(16 ohm) and could only hear them with my head in the dash. I redid them parallel(4 ohm) and now I have center stage again. These were ran to an independent crossover then to left/right bridged on the front of the amp.

I originally made my own but it was to thin so i purchased the amp rack from *********. It uses the same factory mounting spots.

You could prolly make a nice unit using the factory rack arms.

Nice second use for the cutting board. Lol. Guess wifey is happy not to find it.
Wouldn't it be more balanced if you did the install the other way? Just saying.

What do you mean by install the other way?

I got into it today to tweak the center and install the bass knob. The ohm load on the Boston's was making it difficult to find a happy median for the sound stage. Both run in series was too low, but both run in parallel was too loud. I left i parallel, but put the crossover on "ambient." It sounds a lot more even now. I didn't like the location or method that TT suggests, so I place it differently and used double sided tape and a couple of zip ties. It's out of the way and I only have to worry about spilling water on it.

I got the Sub box, subs and EZQ from a guy locally($450). The components($410), baffle kit($36), Amp wiring kit($65), RCAs($20) and noico($60) were from Amazon. I got the speaker wire from the local car audio store($140 for two trucks worth). I did purchase the heavy duty speaker adapters from TT($100).
