this is what the alpharex site says and mirrors my situation exactly:
“If you do not wish to install the harness, the only function you will be missing is to have the DRL run at high intensity while your headlights are set in the off position and the engine/ignition is on. If your vehicle’s lighting is set to the automatic setting, all functions will work as normal.”

removing the harness left me with the only option which was to supply the brown wires with power from the ignition fuse, so yes, the brown wires have 12v when the ignition is powered up. In my case this is when my aftermarket PKE unlocks/locks the doors or when the truck is on.

I have mine set a little too high based on my wife’s comments, and others who have given their heights. I’ll lower them a little bit

So I have the alpharex midnight version and there is no start up sequence drl lights that trigger. I guess I don't really care much about it because I would never see it myself anyways. I decided to just connect the two brown wires and put it to the ignition and remove the rest of the relay harness, it was too messy for me and if all it does is increase the brightness when on off position, i don't really care for it. Would rather not have a mess and risk a fire or blown fuse in the future from loose wires rubbing through.

    Thanks everyone for the replies.

The sequence is kinda gimmicky and a bit out of place on our trucks anyways, you aren't really missing anything IMO.

quick reminder, make sure the housing gets seated inside the clip towards the lower middle/inside. I noticed one side didnt go in all the way and the housing was touching the fender causing a very small rub. once I got the housing pushed all the way into the clip, naturally a gap formed, retighten all screws and bolt afterwards.

Here is a thread that is dedicated to the discussion of these headlights (albeit the 3rd gen ones) and communication between myself and alpharex on the them. They are basically alpharex housings with "unknown" LED chipsets. The OP of this thread has gone in to great detail and posted pics of his experience, seems to be mostly positive. Hope this helps.

I have no idea, but great find! I am definitely interested in knowing more.

EDIT: Just lurked their Facebook page and nothing is posted there, or at least I didn’t see anything. Just emailed their customer service department asking for more details to share with this forum.

The group buy is currently for the pricier Nova Series. Nelson Mann did mention to PM him on FB if you want a small discount on the Pro's.

Yeah we missed out. I got like 5% but better than nothing. Couple months ago they didn't catch their check out cart error and a couple folks were able to stack 3 or 4 codes and got a pretty good discount off the Pro's.

My H7 GTR Ultra 2’s came in today. Drivers side went flawless. Passenger side, not so flawless.

The second bulb I received was missing one of the two pegs that hold the bulb into the retaining/rotating cup and the chip board wiggled a bit, but the other side could have wiggled too, didn’t check. It seems to hold the bulb but might have to check again after driving for a few days.

Unlike another poster, my headlight cap on passenger side had to be cut, significantly. It was pressed up against the housing and didn’t allow the cup to seat, so chop chop chop. Also, the chip board didn’t want to easily insert into the projector eye so I had to do a wee bit of filing.

In the end, they are working. I was really hoping I wouldn’t have to cut, but I did. Will try to get some pics when I adjust them tonight.

Also, I’m a few months in and no leaks. Only complaint is the lenses seem to scratch very easily. Micro scratches probably from dirt and bugs, not rubbing with tools or scrubbing hard.

man that sucks, should have returned the bulbs and got something else, i'd rather replace the bulb that would eventually burn out rather than cut any part of the headlight housing. Glad it worked though. Did you see the clearance I had with the T2 bulbs I got on previous page?

Man, I waited a good bit of time for those bulbs. They do have a good warranty so I figured if something goes wrong, they stand a better chance being in stock down the road. The only reason I cut the headlight was because it was one of the last steps on the second headlight and I didn’t want to undo it all. Lights are bright though and my buddy with the el cheapos went to adjust his headlights with me and was pretty embarrassed at his output compared to mine.

I do have a really weird issue that’s going to take some more digging tonight. Previous to installing these bulbs, my high beams and low beams were spot on. When I turned on the high beams, they would line right up with the low beams, just a little higher. After installing the bulbs and adjusting, the low beams are on point and the drivers side high beam is way off in left field (edit, I’m exaggerating abit, but it is awkwardly more up and left in the wall). This is not the headlight with the low clearance on the cap that had to be cut. It was the headlight I had absolutely no problems with. I’ll get back in there tonight. Hopefully it’s just seared wrong but I took my time and double checked everything.

Does all this look normal to you guys?

Also, the chip board is up and down, with the leds shining horizontal.

You adjust the beam pattern at a distance

    not that close

if you’re having issues it could be the lights or the bulbs

@focal what LED's are you using? I noticed my 1st cheap set bled thru like that. My 2nd set wasn't as bad .. but now I'm on HIDs.

Sorry, my post was misleading. I didn’t adjust my headlights at this spot. I did it at another spot where I pulled all the way forward, marked the hot spot, and backed up 25ft. I was referring to all that glare in the photo.

    That sucks. Those are pricey.

I think the "horns" and bleed off are from the Chinese build quality and parts. The projector and or shroud have gap issues.

@focal Here is my set up with the GTR Ultra 2's in the Alpharex Pro housings. Photo is from the drivers seat and the wall is roughly 35ft away.20200206_182053.jpg

I've had no issues with my Ultra 2's. The Ultra's come with an awesome warranty and I'm sure if you have any issues you can contact the seller Headlight Revolutions or even contact the manufacturer GTR Lighting.
