Both high and low are LED, unless they changed they were $300 when I got them. So well under half the cost of the Morimotos. That is why I gave them a shot.

Both high and low beam are LED. I have not had any issues with them, but I did have to put in the resistors, but you can pick those up at Autozone for around $15/$20 for the pair.

I to install the harness that came with them to run the drl light strips but didn’t have to install resistors.

Okay, that probably works too. So I have a friend of mine who is a mechanic, so I took it over to his place a few weeks after I installed them, and my friend just charged me for the resistors, which he got at Autozone. So if I had used the parts that came with the lights, I might have saved $20. But overall, I love the lights and haven't had any issues.

@TxTundracm514 glad you like them and they worked out for you too! For the price I don’t think you can go wrong! I just didn’t want others to think they had to install resistors.

can anyone comment on the light output / shape and pattern vs the oem halogens vs the oem LED's ? i'm interested in upgrading, but definitely want an improvement in light output and pattern. I know oem invests a ton into the design of the headlights, and as cool as these look, want to make sure it's not just a cosmetic upgrade... tempting tho as they are less than half of what a oem trd pro led setup w/ harness would cost.

I can only comment on these vs the OEM halogens. These are a big improvement over OEM halogens. I didnty post any pics of the halogens against a wall, since I was using high watt (blue painted) bulbs for a while so they were brighter than stock. The LED are definitely brighter than even the high watt bulbs. For the price I don’t think you can go wrong. I know some worry about longevity and go towards the OEMs. I don’t drive too much at night now that I have little kids, so I took the chance. Can’t tell you how to spend your money, but yes the light output is much better! Would be interested in hearing comments from someone who has the OEM LED.

i had these and return them. They look great but the light beam was very dim for me. Ended up going with the pro series that has the projector. Put a 55w HID kit in and its way brighter

@mightyowl I am surprised to hear you say they were dim. I have not seen projectors with 55w HID kit, though I can imagine that is brighter! Can you post a pic of yours?

I have a '15 with stock halogens and the automatic amber DRL. I replaced the DRL with a set of VLED switchbacks, which basically still functions as a full-time DRL, but it uses a 5k white for DRL and switches to amber when the turn signal is activated. It looks like these headlights reuse the factory turn signal bulb, so it should be able to plug-n-play the turn signal? I'm guessing the turn signal will only function as a turn signal now and no DRL function since that's replaced by the LED bar? Hopefully that makes sense.

For mine everything functions as it came stock. I didn’t delete the amber DRL so everything should be normal. The harness you wire in just controls the led strips.

@kuokoa not very hard. You will need a low profile wire tap with a 10amp fuse about $8 on Amazon. My directions are in this post just look back thru and you will find my post in reply to another guy on here.

On the pro tuning site it says black housing but the photos show chrome housing.

Yep, I had a set through the AlphaOwl brand, and the v2 at that, that supposedly fixed the issues. Those are more than likely AlphaOwls too.
They major suck, the light output sucks, they're not good for night driving, the leveling and adjustment is jank. Anyone looking at them cause they look nice, that's all they have going for them. I recommend staying far away from them.
There's a few threads on here about them.
Ended up selling them at a very low price(buyer knew what they were and its issues) and bought a set of Alpharex NOVA headlights

Oh no way! Hahaha ok thanks. I couldn’t find the brand name for them to do a search. Right now the Xb’s are looking pretty good.

Hello Tundra experts. I'm so glad I found this post but I'm still a bit confused on what to buy or what to use... I have a 2016 Limited TRD Crewmax. I didn't think trying to convert my OEM headlights into newer version with the LED DRL bar strip(s) would be so challenging but after talking with 3 different online parts companies (they all just told me to buy a single bulb for the look I wanted) it's evident there's more owners out there with the same questions... I now know there's isn't a magical bulb that I can replace to all of a sudden make an LED DRL strip appear so if someone could reply with whatever link would be best to simply pull out my entire headlamp unit and install a new one without a bunch of rewiring or trouble (if that exists), that would be so appreciated! I have some pics of my truck for ref. (current stock look). Again, I am wanting to mimic what the newer Tundra's headlamps look like with the LED DRL strips either at top of the lamp, bottom, or even the ones that go pretty much around the entire lamp unit itself. Again, thank you for any time you can give to me and my challenge.

Buy new light assemblies and wiring harness from Ihacker. He makes everything pretty simple to convert. Plenty of posts about this subject.

On the VLand lights is there a way to disable the stock amber Turn signal/DRL light on a trick that didn’t come with oem led drl’s?

I essentially want that light to either 1. Not be used at all since the LED DRL’s on the VLand lights are switchback or 2. Only turn on when using turn signal.

Still working great for me, no leds issues, no condensation in the lenses. Light output is so much better than stock! One of the best mods I have done so far for the money!

When I first saw these "Alpharex" lights I was in love. They look just like the 2018+ Sequoia lights and really modernize the older Tundras/Sequoias. But I also really like a good beam pattern with a clean cutoff, and all the pictures posted in this thread make the beam pattern look narrow. It looks more like spotlights than a beam that lights up the road. For looks I want to get these, but for performance I'm leaning towards the Alpharex Pros with a drop in LED. Anyone have any suggestions?

BTW, new member here but been lurking for years. On my 4th Toyota.....2012 Sequoia Platinum.

Does the newer style pro headlights come with the amber DRL? I’m not a fan of the led look. Want the new headlights with amber drl
