I have a 2019 SR5 with non JBL system. I have installed a 100wt amp and it improved the system a lot. I am wondering what results were for the Taco tunes replacement 100wt speakers. The price is ok, just how do they sound? I am not adding a sub at this time.

It might help if you specify which speakers you are asking about. TT's carry couple diff brands.

If I were starting over I would be buying from @james@tech12volts

    https://shop.tech12volts.com/

From what I've read, taco.tunes can be hit or miss on customer service..

Crutchfield has a ton of speakers that will fit.
The website will say they don't, but you just need spacers.
I made my own out of 3/4 MDF.

    43A85727-0BAB-4627-9E77-856E38144C8A_zps_30248dc7f7b03cf447e18d31a26988063cd3477c.jpg

I also have an SR5 but bought component speakers and added JBL door sails.

If you want plug and play Focal makes Toyota specific door speakers.

I installed an entire taco tunes bi-amp, sub all speakers. There are different brands available from them,
I can also say that if I had found @james@tech12volts before I would absolutely do that, tech support is awful from taco tunes.

I didn't have a great experience with James at tech12volts with my amp/sub purchase, so I was thinking about TT also for speakers. Some on here really like TT's work, but I was wondering why they are not even allowed to be mentioned by name here.

I'll take a look at Crutchfield. Does anyone know if they offer plug and play harnesses?

I did end up purchasing an amp and speakers from TT. It does take them a day or so for Daniel to respond to questions. He did respond and assisted through the installation. The wiring and speakers went in as described. I don't have a problem recommending therm. Just give Daniel some slack. He is also their installer.

Because they've evidently screwed over a lot of people, based on a lot of threads here. You are literally the first account (and only, so far) of someone not having the greatest experience with T2V.

Nothing audio wise or customer service wise even comes close to what @james@tech12volts offers. If you want 2nd rate service and equipment then sure.... there are other places out there. All you have to do is a quick search on here and you'll see who is recommended.

I know. I was surprised. The reason I went with him was because of all the great reviews. I guess it was just a fluke or maybe he just had a lot going on.

    To much to list:)
I went with a Taco Tunes and did not have any problems. Scheduled a time showed up and they went right to work. Took excellent care of my vehicle, did a professional install job, and the system sound just fine to me. My wife even likes it. They left my head unit, installed an amp, speakers in the doors, and a sub in a custom box and it is clear and plenty loud. They have done hundreds upon hundreds of Tundras (probably thousands)!!! And they do nothing but Toyota vehicles that is why I went with them. A dealer in San Antonio trust them enough that a person can purchase a Toyota and they will take it there and do an upgrade as an option. I didn’t have a problem and they have a great lounge with a great sound system and a pool table!!:)

Which Focal speakers/crossover did you go with and did you use the same on all 4 doors?

I used Focal Performance PS 165FX on the front doors.

    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_091PS165FX/Focal-Performance-PS-165FX.html

Made my own adapters out of 3/4" MDF.
Installed the crossovers in the doors.
Since I had a non-JBL, I bought JBL door sails and modified them to fit the tweeters.
Just noticed I stated all that in the previous post..

Focal Performance 165AC for the rear doors.
Rears are for fill, no one rides in my back seat, except the dogs..

Ripped out the stock rear speaker and used the factory speaker bracket.

Thanks. Looks good. How does it sound?

Did the Focal mat make a big difference?

I have the non-JBL system also and isn't there an upper tweeter in the rear door? Did you leave it?

Did you also change out the factory amp?

Not clear what Focal mat is.

No tweeter in the double cab rear door, only the crewmax.

Sounds great, I ended up disconnecting all 3 dash speakers.
Running an Alpine PDX V9 5 channel amp.

Sorry, I now see you used Dynamat. Did that make a big difference?

I also didn't know the DC didn't have the tweeters in the rear door. I have the CM with the tweeters in the rear door, so I'm thinking I'd use the same speakers as the front doors.

I already installed the tech12volt JBL amp/sub so it should power it up nicely.

What Focal Crossover did you use? How did you secure it on the door?

I've heard some people leave the dash speakers connected anyway but why muddy the sound with cheaper speakers.

I bought amp and wire adapter from TT. Only problem I had was getting their test tone download to work. No big deal. I just tuned by ear. Bought Infinty Kappas xovers from Crutchfield and shallow box sub off Amazon. Crutchfield sent everything I needed for PNP. I was in no hurry so just waited for a sale. I only did fronts. May not do rear. I never have passengers and turned fader to power front over rear.

I used the crossover than came with the Focal Performance PS 165FX components.

I used Command picture hanging Velcro strips to secure it to the door..
With the door panel in place, it hasn't moved since I stuck it there.

Got a question I have a 17 crewmax non jbl woth center speaker so.it has a factory amp. I upgrade all the speakers to focal components i. The front coaxial in the rear. Factory head unit still i place with the alpine sub and and power pack made.for my truck which is plug and play. I am having an issue where the sound in the fron goes back and forth between left and right. If you turn it up.over 40.the driver speaker quits working. I switched driver and passenger speaker and the problem stays i. Front driver. Any ideas. I either have a bad head unit or a bad amp. Yes I checked the balance and fade and its center on both.

As far as T12V, James is not the most verbose email writer in the world but damn it he always responds. When I ordered my amp he sold me the JBL but got the Infinity version - this initiated a phone call to explain they are the same amp and to be sure I was cool with that. My latest email to him was about a new HU and he told me because of CV-19 don't buy right now as everything is more expensive coming out of China. I appreciated him telling me that at the expense of an immediate sale. I've heard of T12V making mistakes in the past but I have also ALWAYS heard James went out of his way to make it right.

In the end, I believe he has a mom/pop type shop and he's pretty busy and just trying to balance life with hundreds of emails per day, shipping product and oh yeah still doing installs. He's certainly not the only option but he's pretty damn good.

This. I mean, it ought to say something that in a world where we have instant access to Amazon, Crutchfield, etc.....the VAST majority of people on a site like this (and let's be honest - we can be a picky bunch - hell, that's why we own Tundras in the first place!) will tell you to go nowhere but James @ Tech12Volts. :)

I would not trust those pieces of crap to hold a piece of paper on a wall. If i was going to use velcro then I would just use regular stick on type. I would not velcro something behind my door panel. Self tappers are what I used.

They have stuck there for 4 years even in the Texas summer heat and haven't moved.
I've used them for several wall hangings in the house with no problems.
But thank you so much for your priceless input..
