This is the only other option I’m thinking about...

Dealer wants 1,600 to put it on, I need to go look up what I can buy the parts for it, I think it’s around a grand...

So DIY or Dealer install ?

Depends how you value your time, wrenching skills, physical ability and trust worthyness of yourself or a stranger to do the install and on top of all that how much does $600 mean to you.

    I wouldn't install it.
    Why?
-It makes the truck sound like a tractor. Have you driven a Tundra on the lot that has it as an option, I did and it sounds like crap.
-It is a waste of money
    -It adds no resale value

If you want loud exhaust, go to a muffler shop to have an aftermarket one of your choice installed for less money.

FYI; I have loud exhaust on my 19 Mustang GT, turns on and off with a switch; this is what exhaust should sound like.

I ordered the truck without it, but am thinking of adding it... still not sure if I want the extra noise.

Right now you can’t test drive due to the CoronaVirus thing... so I can’t check them out - I can only go off youtube video sound... so I am holding off...

the BAM mufflers - first time I’ve heard of them, but it sounds too loud for what I like... looks like I have more research to do.

For BAMufflers, they make different sizes and the smaller the size, the louder it gets. Are you saying it sounds too loud in regards to outside or in cab?
Maybe give Keith a call and he can explain the sound and everything. He builds it to what you like and can recommend a setup

Should be a pretty easy install. If you feel comfortable using WD-40 and a socket wrench, you should be fine to do it yourself. But I echo the other comments about BAmufflers — you should really consider it.

Same here. Just did a Corsa dB and I think I was done in 2 hours with removal of the old, fighting with one of the hangers and then installing the new one.

Get yourself a big piece of smooth cardboard ( Kentucky creeper) and go at it. Try not to get your eyeball full of rust

$1600 seems a bit pricey. I was able to get both parts of the exhaust from my dealer for just over $1000 and they charged me $199 for labor. I probably could have stumbled through putting it on myself but the hour and 10 minutes it took the dealer was worth the $199.

And trust me, you're going to LOVE the TRD Duals! Best purchase I could have made for my truck.

If you are dead set on duals get the TRD parts and install it yourself.
If you want a good sounding exhaust system with very little drone, call Keith @dirtydeeds

    http://dirtydeedsindustries.com/

He will discuss your wants and needs (loudness, towing, etc.) and recommend what you need.
Everything is bolt on, just like the TRD system.
You will have to drill a hole in the pipe if you want to install the resonator.
Not much to it, I've done it twice.

If you buy from him, I'd install the muffler, run it a week or so and see if you like it before installing the resonator.
Some use them, some don't, I do.

I had an 7" and swapped to a 10" single out with the resonator.
Good thing about DD, if you don't like the muffler, too quiet or too loud, he will swap them out for you.
You just have to pay shipping both ways, it was around $180 when he swapped mine.
But that is cheaper than another exhaust system.

No reason on God's green earth to go to a random shop, have them cut your pipes, and weld in an aftermarket muffler than will give you the drone from the inner depths of HELL.
Been, there, done that, thanks Magnaflow...

    Call Keith..

Dealer priced mine around $1600 and I negotiated down to $1200. Simply told them I am not paying $600 for a 2 hour job. They whined like they always do. I ended up not getting the TRD. Over priced in my opinion.

It looks like it could be an easy install, depending on how long your original exhaust has been hanging there and how corroded it is.
    DIY saves you some $$.
As to why have one, here's one owner's story. The dealer put one on the 2019 Tundra I bought 1 year ago. The truck was the color I wanted, it had the cab style I wanted, and also most of the options I wanted except for the stainless exhaust. I told the salesman that it was a deal breaker and I'd be happy to wait for a truck built to my order. He wanted to move the truck he had on the lot and went to see the parts department and the service guys. He came back and told me they would remove the standard, single pipe exhaust on the vehicle and put in the full stainless system for the same price as a factory install and warrant it the same way. If memory serves, it was around $1000.00.
Why do this? During the winter this is one of the most heavily salted areas in the country. When I got rid of it, my 13 year old 2006 Tundra with 110K miles on it, still had the original stainless exhaust with no repairs or replacements. Around here, exhaust and muffler shops do a big business due to the corrosion. I wouldn't hesitate to go all stainless again and I like the way it sounds. I keep a truck a long time and this is great investment.

What a coincidence. I’m at a muffler shop now literally installing a muffler :)

I had the Trd duals on my 2018. Didn’t like it.
