    Item has been sold.
    Thanks..

This HU has a couple quirks so please read the entire post and understand it before accepting the offer.

For sale (giveaway) is my Pioneer AVH-W4400NEX
    https://www.crutchfield.com/p_1304400NEX/Pioneer-AVH-W4400NEX.html

    I swapped it out because I like the Kenwood layout and graphics better, as well as reasons given below;

    Great shape.
One small light scratch on the screen, too small to take a pic of, can't be seen when the screen is on.

Comes with both harnesses, BT mic, GPS antenna, micro bypass has been removed.

I had a few issues with this HU.
    1. I could not reset it to factory settings, this has been fixed.
I removed the micro bypass, grounded the green PB wire, and now I got it to reset to factory setting, starting a the speaker setup mode.

    2. HU will not retain changes in the screen themes or colors.
If I set them, it goes back to default blue after shutoff and restart.
It will also not retain 'BEEP OFF' but does retain 'DEMO OFF".
It does retain the button colors and all audio settings.

    3. HU requires you to touch it and cancel a warning screen at every startup.
Not an error, that the way it was when new, another reason I wanted the Kenwood.

It does retain and allow changing of AM/FM presets.
BUT, when I had it in my truck, I could not change the XM presets.
It would also start on the same XM channel no matter what channel it was on at shutoff.
That may or may not have been fixed when I was able to reset the HU, I don't know.
If you don't use XM, that won't be a problem.

I had issues with the wireless Carplay.
It worked fine for some time.
But it would not connect automatically after connecting the pink vehicle speed wire.
I think that also may have had something to do with the micro bypass.
If you connect the pink wire and have issues, disconnect it.
Wired carplay worked fine as long as it was plugged in.
If you don't use wireless carplay, this won't be an issue.

I ran this with an Alpine PDX V9, JL Audio Stealthbox, Focal door speakers, and it sounded great.
Ran the dash speakers off the HU, ran the amp out off the RCAs.
EQ, TA, crossovers, etc. all work fine and retain settings after shut off and restart.

This would be a great HU for a work truck or if you simply don't care about screen colors and the beep tone.
Also the XM presets, that might work after the reset, I don't know.
The issue may have been my XM tuner, but it works fine with the Kenwood.
Those are the only things I found wrong with it.

Price: FREE, just give me $25 for shipping.
I can't sell it for anymore than that because it isn't 100%.
I don't have the conscience to sell something that doesn't work as new.
I also cannot just throw this HU in trash, I think (hope) someone can use it.
Just be aware of the issues above before accepting this offer.

    PM me if interested.
    Thanks..

    Wow.

So which Kenwood did you go with and what's your (thorough and thoughtful again) review of it? This is an awesome sell here btw - full disclosure and such a great deal!

I went with the Kenwood Excelon DMX906S.
Even though I installed in February, I really have not had time to set and tune it to the amp and speakers.
Hoping to do that this week, so for now, everything is flat and amp gains aren't properly set.

It doesn't have a CD player, but I don't use one anyway.
Crutchfield had them on sale for $449 in December.

I like the layout, the menu, and quick the response of the Kenwood touch screen.
The Pioneer has some lag in the screen. only fractions of a second, but it seemed longer.
Kenwood also has a 5 volt preamp output, Pioneer has 4 volt.

The features of both HUs are pretty much the same; 13 band EQ, TA, crossovers, wireless Carplay, 2 USB inputs, HD Radio, XM tuner input, etc.
Kenwood has a 2 year warranty.
Pioneer 1 year, mine started acting up after 18 months.

    Pros of the Pioneer;
HDMI input, I put one in the dash to mirror my iPhone, but found I never used it, Kenwood has no HDMI input.
SD card slot that made downloading screen images to the HU easier, could have kept music on it but didn't, Kenwood has no SD slot.
Pioneer allowed to change startup and background screens.
There is supposed to be a way to change the Kenwood startup with a secret menu and specific parameters of the pic file, I just haven't had time to mess with it.

Pioneer has the Auto EQ with Time Alignment (optional CD-MC20 mic required).
I bought (and sold) the CD-MC20 mic, I didn't like the 'AUTO settings' that it gave me.

If I could have got my Pioneer to do a factory reset and be able to use wireless carplay and change the XM presets, I would have kept it.
But after bench testing it this week, doing some googling, then removing the mirco bypass (then being able to reset it), I'm wondering if that micro bypass was the problem all along.

I had originally bought a Kenwood when I replaced the Entune.
But it had a warning that required touching the screen on every startup.
I know that sounds trivial, but it bugged me to no end.
Also wireless carplay came out so I bought the Pioneer.
I stated above the Pioneer had that warning but you don't have to touch it, it cancels out after 10 seconds.
The new Kenwood warning cancels out after 10 seconds as well.

    Hope that helps..
