I did solo March 2019- Oct 2019, running every day and doing my own thing - lost 30 lbs - I was able to motivate myself via Dre Beats Solo and music LOL.

My wife had done CrossFit for years and always tried to get me to join. Oct rolled around and I joined. I always thought I’d hate working out with people, because of the whole “muscle head” mentality. Guys walking around with puffed up chests thinking they’re the shit.
I was completely wrong about our gym lol. I was super warmly welcomed, everyone like minded, supportive, felt like home.
I miss all my morning peeps. Met a lot of great people, lots of networking, which I like.
Not so much as of late though! LOL

Im now using a set of resistance bands I bought a few years ago for my son. I’m glad I kept them. They have attachable handles and a piece you can close into a door jam for more exercises. Also have been riding the heck out of my peloton since I bought that a few months ago. I started a 100 push ups a day 30 day challenge yesterday too. I’m down 20 the past 4-5 weeks, only 10 more to go.

Oh I hate the muscle head guys even more. Why are you carrying a gallon of water? Why do I not see you do anything but lean around and take pics? If I wanted your advice on my workout id ask, so shaddup.

I love the gym. Its my release. But its not my life like some of those guys. Go in, go to work, leave. Congrats on the 30! Id like to drop about ten. Like they say, you cant out train your fork, so Im working on my eating habits.

Seriously considering biting the bullet and building out a home gym in my 3rd garage stall. Currently doing high rep stuff with DB that only go to 50. Feels like cardio. Also run a few times a week.
I am working- I operate a nursing facility, so I’m too paranoid to eat any food that I have to handle, heat up, or carry anywhere in the facility. So now it’s a few packaged whey protein shakes, bananas, and macadamias.
I am curious if my gym is still charging. It’s a locally owned. I suppose if I build a gym, I will probably happily pay to keep the owner afloat and then cancel when he’s allowed to re open.

I’ve always worked out at home. I absolutely hate gyms, but to each their own.

I have a rack, bar, plates, a few dumbbells, slam ball, climbing machine, just missing a 30” box and those rubber floor mats. Have a shop to set everything up in too. I don’t ever use any of it though since I’m not a solo kind of guy :pDid a partner workout this AM :D

    And I fully agree lol.
Yeah, 40# down now after CrossFit. 220# to 180#. :D Size 36 pants to 32-33. XL shirts went to a L/M. Even my feet shrunk which was weird, went from an 11 to 10.5. Didn’t even know that was possible until I read up on it LMAO!!!

edit: 100 Lungesters!!!! I just puked

I know you don't want to go solo but if you run into anybody that does or you change your mind. PR Lifting out of Seattle is a great place for equipment. Some of their stuff is really close to Rogue like their bumper plates. They deliver for free if you pick up at one of their stops. Usually a CF gym. They have mats too. I bought a sh!t ton of stuff from them. All my plates, mats, a few bars, and I think a few sets of collars.

This is why I wanted CF to work for me. I was doing fine when I had a powerlifting coach. Even when I was doing hybrid of PL,CF. But once my back decided it wasn't going to cooperate anymore I started gaining weight like crazy(well like 10#). For PL thats fine due to leverages but I wasn't liking it.
Started doing Street Parking again(out of Vancouver if you haven't heard of it) and watching what I was eating but couldn't really make progress(my fault not theirs)....except that I haven't worn knee sleeves in over two months now. Thats awesome!

After years of working out in the Marine Corps I am going back to what worked for me. Plus I honestly like just working out more then CF.

What’s street parking? Never heard of it. Are you Portland? and yeah, my buddy lives in Vancouver where I’ve been going every day lol. Yesterday I did the mile runs with the owner of FT Van. CrossFit, Adam, really nice guy!
My buddy said when they do the CrossFit Open down here they bring all the mats from up north, I’m guessing it’s PR that you’re talking about, and then you can buy them for cost/cheap! I might do that if they even have it this year. :(

That was a partner, so all split into 2! LOL!

Only had to do 50, and I was doing fairly light weight, I think 85#.
Carrying that shit around the block on your back sucked the most!! LOL!

Street Parking is an online subscription based program. The owners are Julian and Miranda Alcaraz. Both former CF competitors. They put out a crazy amount of weekly workouts along with a daily workout in 4 different varieties. Shift is the intro/ more simplified workout. A=DB program,B=barbell version, C=rower, bike and or sandbag version. Every workout has a video posted daily along with tips. It is a good option for people looking to workout from home that like CF and don't want to create their own program.

I usually opt for the DB version of most movements because I can't get into the front rack position properly. I can muscle it if I have to. But my shoulders hurt for days after. Again another injury that I have to work around.

Mirrors when ever there someone giving it away renovating there baths rooms. Spin bike for $20 just repainted lol.

I took the money we would have spent on gym memberships and built a home gym. Squat rack, barbell, plates, flat bench, incline bench, kettlebells, slam ball, treadmill, punching bag. Just need a set of Power Blocks and a few other odds and ends. Best thing I ever did. I don't miss the gym at all.

Same here. I tried Crossfit and another group workout program put on by a local MMA gym. I couldn't get into either of them. I find the upbeat and chipper people to actually be demotivating and working out with others completely throws off my focus. I don't even like working out with The Woman in our home gym. To me, training is work. It's not a social event or meant to be fun. Embrace the suck.

Yep, that’s the thing. The $125.00 a month doesn’t bother me. When I have a class of 8 people that show up every weekday, it almost makes me feel like I “HAVE” to go. I know the coaches (drink beer together sometimes on the weekends) and they pitch me shit if I don’t show up.
At home, I can come up with 1000 excuses of bettering myself around the property.
I leave the gym covered head to toe in sweat, always trying to follow the best and be #1. That just doesn’t happen at home. :D

100% This. Just shut up already and let me work.

I wish I had a home gym, but my membership is $10 a month, and its right near my job so I can go on my lunch hour, work out, shower, come back to the office and have a protein shake or something. Keeps me from eating badly, and a couple other guys in here go at lunch too, so there's a bit of shame if i try to bow out and go to the buffet.

I don't have a perfect place to build a home gym completely yet because I refuse to give up my garage space. Its where my car projects live.
