I just ordered an AVS 93830 for my 2017. My plan is to remove the outside tape and clean up the edge. Get some new 3m tape and see if it will work as an in channel. Thoughts?

What’d you end up doing for the install? I saw one before but it said it wasn’t compatible with rear sliding glass. Looks good!

What you have to do is peel off the tape that it comes with and the put new 3M double back tape on the inside and install it as an in channel.

Any problems with the rear window fully closing?

No. It closes just as it did before I installed it. Not sure why AVS does not make this an in channel for the 3rd gen.

Would this work if you have a sliding middle window?

I’m glad you pulled the trigger on this. I’d had this idea and wasn’t sure how well it’d work...

Did you use the 3M tape too and in channel the visor?Any issues? Do you notice any difference with air flow?

Yup 3m tape and carefully placed in there then held it and had my wife close the window. Left it for the day.

    Window works perfectly still.

Haven’t driven with it yet to notice wind noise, but I had one on my 05 and it wasn’t noisy at all and I LOVED being able to leave the window open 3” at work in the summer.

Can't believe AVS did not realize how simple this was. I emailed them and they will be looking into setting these up.

When I saw how others were taping them onto their rubber I could see how this would fit into the channel so I had to try it. Glad it is working out!

Can't imagine it would be any different from not having it. Have not run with it open yet because of weather. We will see.

So after a few days of it being installed I noticed a couple things...

-Window works perfectly with this mounted in channel

-It hangs down much farther then it appears on the outside and I was not a fan of the obstructed view.

So I modified it to a much smaller size and it has a more contoured look as well matching my side visors much better.

I saw no difference when driving with the window down in any position.

I'm going to steal this idea too! I've been hesitant to get one for the rear glass because of the unibrow look. But trimmed, it blends right in.
