15 CM SR5 TRD lifted with 35" tires with 20" wheels. I have discs up front and drums in the back.

I've got a little shimmy when on the brakes lightly and am compelled to get some new shoes all the way around with new rotors. I do not regularly tow and drive a lot in the hills off road and on the highway. I'm comfortable spending a little more for high quality with some aspect of unique look. I'm not thinking of replacing the calipers at this point, but might consider it as well if the look were to blow me away.

Whatcha got for recommendations for brand, material and configuration (drilled/slotted)? Is it worth it to switch the rears to discs? What I've read leads me to think no on rear discs.

    TIA folks!

Bumping this because I want to hear people’s opinions on what brakes/rotors are recommended for people with a lift and larger tires. My truck has 6” suspension lift with 35x12.5 tires and the brakes are spongy...

I have power stop rotors and pads sitting in my garage waiting to install when it warms up a little and I’m not too lazy. I’ve heard good things about ebc pads, hawk pads, and stop tech rotors. Some say stick with stock. There’s also TRD pads. Power stop are slotted and drilled.

Its probably like suspension. Everyone has their favorite and everyone has a bad story about the competitor they don’t like.

And if you are talking about your 2015 tundra, you already have rear discs. Not sure about the 2000-2006 tundras.

I went EBC Ultimax (slotted only, not drilled) and yellow stuff pads. I chose the ultimax because of their black coating which will hold up to salt in my area (NJ beach town) better than power stop or anything else from Napa. Performance is excellent. Dust is on the higher side, but I wash the truck 1-2 times/week. I would avoid the drilled rotors due to longevity issues.

I’m not sure what kind of driving people that swear by factory pads/rotors do, but for me, they were terrible. I do a lot of country highways with stop signs and lights, so I do regular 70-0 stops. If I sat at a light with my foot on the brake and the brakes were warm, I would have a serious shimmy from the material transfer the next time I touched them. This is no longer a problem. Initial bite is better, they perform better as they heat up, and panic stops make me giggle at how violent the deceleration is. Expensive, but worth it.

    Drums? Huh?

I only recently had to do brakes on my 2016 and went with Powerstops from RockAuto.com.

Very little brake dust, no noises, good braking...but I dont slam on the brakes much.

Yeah, no drums in the back. Full idiot in the left front seat. They are discs.

I installed Detroit Axle drilled and slotted rotors on the front with their pads. The pads were actually Toyota factory pads.
I am extremely pleased with the quality of the discs and pads. A bit of dust but my truck stops better than factory and I tow a 14" trailer and a 21' boat regularly.

Tons of options out there. I'm on 35's as well and I tow regularly. I stuck a set of 50 dollar Napa pads in awhile ago and are working fine.
