ALC 11.6% love the high octane stuff!!
    IBU 15

This one as well has been reviewed by a couple of folks. Here's my take:
Aromas of whiskey, chocolate and marshmallow. The warmth of whiskey going down, tastes of whiskey, chocolate, marshmallow and malt. This one is way better than the CampFire S'mores I sent @Larmand. This one is spot on!! And it's high octane. The wife and boy even liked it:monocle: weird.20200321_171421.jpg

Any brewers here? I have a question.

Why are all the IPA's and Hazy's so high with the alcohol content?
I love the beer, but would actually like drinking more than one! It seems to me that breweries could sell a lot more beer with a little lower % and make more money, just by volume alone. I'd venture to guess the average ABV in the breweries around me is 7.5%.

I'm really digging the session IPA's, but not many options 4.5-5.5 seems to be my sweet spot.

Anyway, just wondering the reason. Is it harder to achieve?

IPAs are brewed with more hops than other styles or beer giving them their bitter hop punch. To give the beer more balance, additional malts are added. This gives the beer more mouthfeel, sweetness and alcohol (since alcohol is made from the yeast eating the sugars in the malt) to balance the beer. Without adding more malts the beer with be very hop forward, but watery and unbalanced.

I don't know any good American ISAs, though I think Stone Brewing makes one (and they make some really good IPAs too). If you can find them, try Phillips Bottle Rocket or Central City Red Racer ISA.

@NoRcptn there are a couple light IPAs that are lower ABV. Dogfish head makes one, and Lagunitas has another. I'm sure there are others but those two are the ones I know off the top of my head. If you have a Total Wine nearby they'll likely stock both of those.

I have the dogfish and Lauginaitas in my fridge as we speak. Founders All-Day IPA is my favorite. Just looking for some variety for a few beers without getting trashed!

    Something Brewery | Brighton, CO
PT Panic| Strawberry pop tart kettle sour | ABV 5.4%

Made with 100lbs of pop tarts

    aromas of strawberries
Flavor of a very small hint of the pop tart crust - but not enough strawberries. Strawberry kicks in at the very end

Here's another one from a Texas Care Package. Thanks y'all!

    Martin House Brewery
    Ft. Worth, TX
Plum Pudding, Plum Sour Ale with Lactose and Fig
    ALC 5.3%

This one as well has been reviewed by a couple of folks. Here's my input.

Aromas of fig and candy. Tastes of fig. I cant really taste the plum but, that's okay. For a sour I like this one. The sourness is not overpowering. Maybe the sweetness balances it.

Martin House Brewery | Ft. Worth, TX
The Morrigan | Blonde BarelyWine | Barrel Aged Stout | 13%

    Oaky like aromas
Didn’t pour heavy like a typical Stout
Some tastes of vanilla mixed it with the barrel taste at the end.

This is an easy beer to drink, especially at 13%!

This is one from last weekend- if you like Chai Tea, you’d love this.

Left Hand Brewery | Longmont, CO
Nitro Chai Milk Stout | 5%

I only remember the similar taste of chai, but with vanilla and chocolate washing it down. I would buy this if I came across it

    Shannon Brewing | Keller, TX
Chocolate covered strawberries | Milk Stout | 9.1%.

    Pours dark with light lacing
Aromas of fresh strawberries with a hint of chocolate
Bitterness at the end that levels out the sweetness
It’s refreshing and good on a bit or cold day, IMO. I would drink this again.

El Gran Pepinillo | Lager with pickles and peppers | 5.8%

    Pours easy with minimal lacing
Strong aromas of pickle juice from the jar with some peppers

Taste of spicy pickle juice without alcohol.

I was craving this beer some reason. It didn’t disappoint, and the name covers the taste perfectly.
