    Thread drift......

Out of all my Glocks, and there are several, I shoot my beater Gen 2 G17 (May 1990) the best..
Bought it strictly for a truck gun.
One that I could afford to lose if used, and taken by the police, in the event of a shooting.
Still has the OEM black parts in it..

I've bought and sold many a firearm over the last 20 years, but I won't sell this one..

My beater Gen 2 G17 compared to my G19X (sold the 19X too and bought a G45).
Various distances, I shot at the geometric shapes (wht squares, yel diamonds, red triangles) until I hit it...

I’ve only carried a Government size. It actually carries more comfy than I would have ever imagined for a full sized 45 - I carried it for almost a year. 1/2 the time in a Milt Sparks IWB and the other a OWB Wilson Combat.
I’ve since moved to more comfy rigs (G19, G43, and G42)...but it you must, the 1911 can be done. Not sure I’d recommend any 45 1911 with as many badass 9mm options out these days.

    Pics - 5’10” 185lbs, Med-Large, 33W
SA RO in 45 with a CMC 10rnd mag
    That’s a pretty form-fitting type jacket.

    Nice Gen 2 1lowlife, I wish I never sold my 1st Gen G17.

My EDC are full size Glock pistols, G34 or G41. Both are roughly the same size as a 1911, but lighter, higher magazine capacity and I love the long sight radius.

I picked up the 1911 emp for EDC. The weight allows it to be super accurate. try renting composites and take paper to the back of your range and see how well you hit the targets. Even though emp is pricey, I dont see myself having to buy any other years down the road. Some will argue the emp is not a true 1911 because parts from other 1911s will not fit. Springfield did a ground up redesign for it to be a compact.

I used to EDC my Springfield Loaded 5" .
Then my Sig Sauer Tac Ops 5 ".
Now , its either the P320 or P226.
I had zero problems carrying either the full size 1911s , but after a few classes with some high level instructors , I have made the switch to higher capacity tools for social engagements.

I use my Para in USPSA. With the Dawson base pads I can get 19 .40 cal rounds in there. Brick is an accurate description but I don't own a pistol that shoots better. How do you like yours?

I love the trigger pull and reset, the barrel is match but my tired eyes struggle with the green fiber optic front sight. She shoot's so so sweet though. She does get finicky about her ammo around 500 rounds for cleaning. I would also like to change the polymer parts (trigger & safety) for metal and throw bigger Novak style sights. But again the only handgun in my small collection that comes close is my VP9.

I had a hard time adjusting to the fiber optic as well. Do you just have the green on the front?

I ended up going with green in the back and red upfront to create some contrast. Kind of hard to see in the pics but it helped me a ton.

Yeah you can barely see that sucker. I'm sure you've seen their products but Dawson has some nice sights for Para's. Hope you can find a solution that works for you.

This. Other than the range I leave my Springfield Mil Spec and my Colt Series 80 9mm loaded at home for home defense with an empty chamber so all that needs to be done is pull them out and rack them. And if my wife needs to grab one she can rack it and go to town without fiddling with a safety she hasn't trained extensively on.

I would want a lot of draw/off-safe reps with my 1911s before I'd CC them.

Springer RO compact for daily carry. I have an RO elite compact for practice and training. HD pistols are Springer full size.

All have been thoroughly vetted in terms of reliability.

RO compact has been amazingly reliable and easy to carry. The Elite Compact is slightly larger in length and height. Could still carry it easily.

I think the lightweight 1911s are a sweet spot for personal defense. Easy to shoot well. Reliable with good mags and lubed well. Easy to conceal.

I tricked out a Kimber Pro Carry with the intentions of being my EDC but haven't been able to switch away from the Springfield XDS 45. Been looking and real close at the STI Staccato C2 Duo and Bul Armory SAS 2 Viper. I guess considered more of a 2011, but in 9mm and up to 15 rounds with race gun speed and accuracy. The more I look at them the more I'll probably get one.
