It is a regular old dumb switch, my charger will stay off till turn it on. I have forgotten twice in the past and had something else sitting there, start truck, charger defaults back on, and later notice flashing red. I just wanted control of when it turns on. The foreign object on the "turned on" charger is probably not good for it, maybe it dont matter. I have LOADS of free time and parts were free.

The ride so far is awesome. The driveway is sloped but, I’m awaiting my rims before my new rubber is mounted to tell the true ride. My stock tires are bald. Thanks to all the layoffs my rims are 1-2 weeks behind. I used Mr. Pink Chemical Guys soap. I’m going to look at less expensive options even though its not badly priced! I use the MATCC cannon and I’m going to try some less expensive options as I don’t see paying $20 a bottle of soap. Even though the foam cannon full got me about 5 washes.

So yeah, I did my tow hooks also since it’s in vogue. And yes they came out fine. I also figured out which direction I’m taking the truck... OEM plus. I have absolutely no need for a theatrical truck.
I saw the original picture in the Calvary Blue thread. I was waiting for the pics of the finished product. The truck looks extremely sharp. Excellent work.

Another small mod done while I continue to work from home. Did the plastidip on the shifter trim and chrome cup holder. No more being blinded by the sun reflecting off these into my eyes.

Spare is full size, rim says temporary use only on it. 2019 sr5
I upsized tires so I went ahead and bought a matching rim off CL for $75 and put a 5th Falken AT3w on there. 285/75r18 fits under bed with some hammering of the aligning tabs :)

I’ve used just about any car wash soap in my foam cannon. Either gel, concentrate or just the watery liquid soaps in then with no crazy difference. Some May foam slightly better but for what it’s worth I wouldn’t spend the money on “foam cannon” soap that some company’s boast about.

Thanks to Sprtbkr for the original idea. As far as I can tell, which sometimes amounts to zip, he was the first to successfully convert an “H-key” to a flip key set up. If there were/are others, well I thank you too!

    https://www.tundras.com/threads/h-key.27250/#post-1631466

I also have made a “Franken Flip Key” using the internals of one of my factory fob keys (aka dagger key). I then transferred them into the blank shell I ordered off of Amazon.

    https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B072YG9PP1/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I then asked my bud at the dealer to please cut me a key. He was not expecting it to be flip key. I asked if he thought he could cut it okay. He answered that, “Of course I can and I will gladly do it on the house!” Just what I wanted to hear because my stealership charges around $16 and up to just cut keys.

We both were goo-goo-ing and ga-ga-ing over how cool it was and that it works! “It’s alive!”

So I happily drove the rig home today using the freshly cut “Franken Flip Key”. I was nervous that I may have damaged the chip when I had to “carve” it out of all the adhesive that it was covered in inside the original OEM fob key.

I was able to keep the original OEM fob key shell intact, in the case I should ever need it again. My research showed many had to break, crack, or cut out the transponder chip. I just took my time with an X-acto knife and a heat gun. Even with patience, I still “chipped” the chip on one of its corners upon retrieval.

Here are all my three (albeit all different, oh and low-tech dummy key) functioning keys!
