I have a 2001 Tundra SR5 4.7 with towing package. My issue is with the A/T temp light staying on even upon initial start up I have changed the radiator (due to coolant leak) changed out trans fluid and even added another trans cooler to be safe. Everything runs and drives as it should with no lag or skip in shifting. The weird thing is, sometimes the light doesn't come on at all. Any help is appreciated.

Secondly is it the 08, or the 01 he’s talking about. Not the 01 if he’s stating the 4.6 right?

You need a scanner so you can see A/T fluid temp that will tell you the problem if it’s showing a crazy reading with key on your a/t temp sensor or wiring could be bad my experience a broken wire will show -Degree reading, with the KOEO cold engine you should be somewhere very near to ambient temp

The light is not shorting out (I chased the wires, which was a pain). I have 2 Tundras. This post is for the 2001. I will ask around and see if someone has a good scanner I could use.

according to this pic your ATF Fluid temp sensor is on the passenger side of the trans take a look at the harness and see if it’s corroded or broken wire
