So your truck is a SR5 with Amber DRL right? What did the shop used a fuse tap to make your LED DRL work? Or what kind of harness they used for this, everything is ok with the Ballenger harness problem is with the othe part they used for DRLs

Yes my truck is an SR5 with the Amber DRL. I don’t know what they used for the DRL’s Harness. I can see they placed the fuse tap on the wrong fuse slot. So the DRL Harness affects my headlights too?

Maybe if they wired on the wrong plug, red and pink wires in the Ballenger harness power your DRL strip if they wired different so that might be your problem

Check the connection and make sure red wire is the only one attached to the fuse tap since your harness is not properly wired for dimming yours will be on High mode all time

So I’m wondering why it worked for a couple of days if it was wired incorrectly. If they wired it wrong should it have not worked at all?

So the pink one should be cut for my application? Did I also need to do the DRL delete mod under the dash (cutting the small grey wire)? On Retrofit wholesale it states it’s required.

Yes to deactivate the Amber DRL gray wire in cab must be cut or get the terminal popped out of the connector, pink wire can be left in place in the Ballenger harness but no other connection going through it

So just so I understand correctly, I need to cut or unpin the small gray wire for my Amber DRL’s in order for my new headlights and DRL’s to work

The headlights don’t have nothing related to the LED DRL they are powered by the Motocontrol, and gray wire is only to turn off the Amber DRL and doing so you only have the LED strip on you can still leave the gray wire in place untouched but this will leave you with Amber and LED strip at the same time as DRL

If you paid for the installation best bet is to go back with the installer and have them to do for what you have paid correctly

I am tacking it back, I requested they just put it back to stock. I’m getting refunded by the shop. I’m just gonna have to buy the entire PNP kit so at least I will know everything works together. Then install it myself. Thank you for your help.

When they put everything back to stock do your headlights and turn signals work correctly? Maybe that weird things happening to you were related to where they plugged in the purple wire in your turn signals

i have a 17 with amber DRL and would like to maintain the amber DRL along with the LED DRL in the 2018 lights.

am i reading this correctly that i can leave the gray wire connected, do the 1 relay harness and maintain my amber DRL along with the LED DRL. and if i signal, the LED DRL will not blink or anything funky?

    Thanks!

Yes, a lot of guys left the gray wire under dash in place and the LED strip don’t blink with turn signal just the Ambers
