It's been serious for weeks. In California, all LA county beaches are closed because thousands of idiots last week thought that the 'stay at home' order from the governor meant go to the beached in droves. (This is why we can't have nice things) My parents are in their 80's and I will not let them leave their house. I went grocery shopping for them so that they wouldn't leave the house. People across this country are not taking it as serious as they should be. There is no vaccine or cure for this yet. The whole country should have been on lockdown weeks ago. This country medical services are comically undersupplied for this. Nurses and doctors only getting 1 mask for a 12 hour shift is insane.

    STAY AT HOME.

Our grandparents were called to war, we are being called to sit on the couch. We can do this.

It's been very disappointing seeing some of my friends and family treat their "work or stay at home" orders as a vacation. Me and my wife and son have not left the house since the day the CA governor announced the order. We are self quarantining in parallel for 14 days with some other family members so that we are able to see each other.

Most of my other friends and family are out doing a grand tour licking door knobs. Sad.

Edit: I am fortunate enough to have my job keep me at home while still getting paid. I totally understand if people need to go to work. But it should be limited to that only.

My wife and I both work for the school district. She is off and staying home. Other than going to the grocery store, that’s it. Me I’m still working because I’m an essential plumber that needs to be on deck for any problems. I have only gone to the store work and home. Last night my wife was going stir crazy. She said she needed to get out of the house. I gave in because I have had the luxury of being outside and seeing more than just my neighborhood. I took her on a long drive through the Southbay. Drove by the beach and up to Palos Verdes and back. Then sort of just wandered around the city because it was just awesome with out any cars on the road. About 11 o’clock at night. It reminded me of a weeknight 30 years ago of how things used to be. We didn’t lick any door knobs or even get out of the truck LOL. But it did make her feel better. Cranking the music and just rolling! We were both singing along and it was actually some of the most fun I’ve had in a few weeks. Also I think I got the best gas mileage I have ever got in the city.

That is awesome. I still consider being in your vehicle with your family "staying at home." I'm not sure why I haven't done that yet. Good idea. :)

There should be a federally mandated stay at home declaration....should have been in place weeks ago.

I can't believe how many people are out and about in the city where I live. The stores that are open....have lines of 20-50 people waiting to get in. And I am not talking grocery or drug stores- walmarts, basspro, etc.

So many are not doing any social distancing.....things are going to get much worse.

It’s so awesome. When I was single, my buddy and I used to go cruise a lot. Typically late at night because the streets were much more quiet. Just drive to drive. Whether it was going up to Malibu in the canyons or a trip up to the mountains. Sometimes just cruise the beach and listen to music. We did it well into our 20s. I didn’t share this on social media LOL because I don’t want everybody ruining my fun Hahaha. Just like all the idiots that decided to go to the beach. What part of the social distancing don’t they understand. If you’ve got the money for gas, a cruise could be so fun. We put on sublime at full volume and just singing along. Brought me back. And I always love road trips. If I could visit family out in Vegas right now, I would. I bet the highway is wide open. I could probably make it there in 3 1/2 hours. Late night adventures are the best!

4 fish in what seams like a small bowl. Ive told my family not to leave the house, unless it really important. My son doesn’t go back to school until May 1st.
That’s 5 weeks from now, if schools even reopen.
    Good luck to all Tundralites.

Anyone notice massive amounts of military equipment moving on rail across the country?
Trying to figure out why the UK no longer says this is a high consequence infectious disease?
The whole world so far from this has way less deaths than the flu just in the States yet the whole world is shutting down but we will see soon enough.

the issue here is overwhelming hospitals because of the highly contagious disease. when it collapses (look at Italy, 1000+ deaths daily), that's when the body count will stack up unfortunately.

Yea that is why i am taking zero chances with my families health right now. I just think its crazy how many deaths every year from the flu and they never overwhealmed hospitals that i know of.

I have to wonder how exactly we were told that wearing masks is only worthwhile for the ones already sick?

It sure fits in with the all too glaring fact that we do not have even the barest minimum number of masks needed for just the front line medical and first response workers but I have seen a few interviews and articles now where one of the lessons already learned from the Chinese is that if everyone everywhere was wearing masks at all times this would not be as bad as it already is and has been.

Seems like common sense too if you think about it but I am pretty sure that we have been fed bad info just because we can not do anything to change it too.

The lack of readiness is tragic and the lack of any organized plan of any kind is only making things worse.

This crazy notion of Quarantine now is like locking the barn even though the horses have been gone for weeks already?

China did this back in 2015. Its a different way of life in China, the firmware installed in computers and phones is built so that the government has 100% access. They did everything they could to cover this up from the start, I wouldn't trust anything coming out of that country.

    * The virus is not a living organism, but a protein molecule (DNA) [sic—RNA = typo?] covered by a protective layer of lipid (fat), which, when absorbed by the cells of the ocular, nasal or buccal mucosa, changes their genetic code. (mutation) and convert them into aggressor and multiplier cells.

    * Since the virus is not a living organism but a protein molecule, it is not killed, but decays on its own. The disintegration time depends on the temperature, humidity and type of material where it lies.

    * The virus is very fragile; the only thing that protects it is a thin outer layer of fat. That is why any soap or detergent is the best remedy, because the foam CUTS the FAT (that is why you have to rub so much: for 20 seconds or more, to make a lot of foam).

By dissolving the fat layer, the protein molecule disperses and breaks down on its own.

    * HEAT melts fat; this is why it is so good to use water above 25 degrees Celsius for washing hands, clothes and everything. In addition, hot water makes more foam and that makes it even more useful.

    * Alcohol or any mixture with alcohol over 65% DISSOLVES ANY FAT, especially the external lipid layer of the virus.

    * Any mix with 1 part bleach and 5 parts water directly dissolves the protein, breaks it down from the inside.

    * Oxygenated water helps long after soap, alcohol and chlorine, because peroxide dissolves the virus protein, but you have to use it pure and it hurts your skin.

    * NO BACTERICIDE OR ANTIBIOTIC SERVES. The virus is not a living organism like bacteria; antibodies cannot kill what is not alive.

    * NEVER shake used or unused clothing, sheets or cloth. While it is glued to a porous surface, it is very inert and disintegrates only

-between 3 hours (fabric and porous),

    -4 hours (copper and wood)

    -24 hours (cardboard),

    - 42 hours (metal) and

    -72 hours (plastic).

But if you shake it or use a feather duster, the virus molecules float in the air for up to 3 hours, and can lodge in your nose.

    * The virus molecules remain very stable in external cold, or artificial as air conditioners in houses and cars.

They also need moisture to stay stable, and especially darkness. Therefore, dehumidified, dry, warm and bright environments will degrade it faster.

    * UV LIGHT on any object that may contain it breaks down the virus protein. For example, to disinfect and reuse a mask is perfect. Be careful, it also breaks down collagen (which is protein) in the skin.

    * The virus CANNOT go through healthy skin.

    * Vinegar is NOT useful because it does not break down the protective layer of fat.

    * NO SPIRITS, NOR VODKA, serve. The strongest vodka is 40% alcohol, and you need 65%.

    * LISTERINE IF IT SERVES! It is 65% alcohol.

    * The more confined the space, the more concentration of the virus there can be. The more open or naturally ventilated, the less.

    * You have to wash your hands before and after touching mucosa, food, locks, knobs, switches, remote control, cell phone, watches, computers, desks, TV, etc. And when using the bathroom.

    * You have to HUMIDIFY HANDS DRY from so much washing them, because the molecules can hide in the micro cracks. The thicker the moisturizer, the better.

    * Also keep your NAILS SHORT so that the virus does not hide there.

I couldn’t agree more. The wife and I just did a 3 hour cruise down some back roads. Had a great lunch (curbside delivery) and just chilled. Was mentally very relaxing. Got to vent about our kids and some friends and otherwise just got good husband/wife time.

My wife is not a “let’s go for a drive” person, but those hours with the heated seat worked like a champ. She’s back taking a nap right now!

Thank you sir! And Kudos! :hattip:

I can't tell how disappointing it is for the wife and I to experience our two daughters (40's) not make a single offering or overture for giving assistance much less just a simple welfare check. Just so busy with their own lives...

And don't get me wrong. Being of the old generation, I have stocked up (daughters included) and I will provide/defend (us) as long as the good Lord will allow me.

A big thank you to all of you who recognize us old folks and understands our progressing (unsolicited) weaknesses. :)

You’re delusional if you think it’s just now getting “serious.”

Data from China cannot be trusted. I studied their economic data as a part of some course work I did a few years back; they had reported precisely 4% unemployment, for something like 20 consecutive years.
