I have an 07 4.7L tundra. I got it with fire damage, I changed out the dash, the dash came off from an 08 5.7L. I connected the battery to see if it will start up. it starts up and right away shuts off. I can't seem to figure out what's going if anyone would be able to help me that would be much appreciated!
    Thanks, V

Probably need to run some adaptions, sounds like maybe the immobilizer

Vibration of the engine is causing something to short out. Loose connection.

I have an issue with my 5.7 as well, everytime the battery grounds out, or battery discharges after the initial turn over it dies right away, having to turn over a 2nd time and it stay on and acts erratic with lots of vibrations then settles.... Negative slides off a bit so I re-tighten and shift the terminal.. happens every 3 to 6 months.. also check the grounded bolts to the right of the battery.

I had my battery disconnected for a while so it wouldn’t die but not constantly, Someone spoke of a connection being loose, any idea what it could be? Also it doesn’t run for more than a second at all. I tried putting starter fluid into the intake that did nothing.

Try checking the grounding points next to the battery. Ensure those are on tight.. I'm unfamiliar with the 4.7, but may be a starter issue.... how many miles do you have??

It fires up for like 1 second, but then shuts off right away.

Try cleaning the MAF, and the IACV witt a spray first. If you plan on removing the IACV, first buy the gasket, and remember to burp the cooling system..
    Btw where was the fire???

    I'll double back to this....

Has or does the new dashboard/ecm/keys etc need to be adapted/programmed to the vehicle, to each other? They need to be "synced" together.

To me it sounds like an immobilizer issue.

What fault codes, if any, do you have?

Ok, the fire was pretty far, it started next to the left leg almost everything that was there was burned away, we changed the harness and the dash, it was mostly on the left side, the seat got burned a little. There are not faulty codes which it pretty interesting.

When you put the key in the ignition does the red blinking key on the dash go away ?

My father had a 84 Celica that got stolen. They found the car before they could strip too much off of it but one of the things that they took was the plastic hose that went from the air cleaner to the engine. It did the exact same thing. I would check that plastic hose just in case it was melted or otherwise damaged and any hose that goes to it.

If you crank it over, can you fast pulse the gas pedal to make it run (struggling) for at least a little longer than just starting and stalling? even another second...

If so, this has happened to me with the 4.7. You need to multi-cycle the ignition to reset it. So, from off, cycle to start, let stall, turn off that's 1 cycle. Repeat 20-25 times and the computer will reset and relearn.

    If not, I dunno.

Fire may have damaged the Body ECU, as it sits in the general vicinity of your fire, left hand side under the dash. #5 and 7... more than likely 7 https://www.autogenius.info/toyota-sequoia-2008-2017-fuse-box-diagram/ haven't been able to find anything for the Tundra, but the Sequoia is pretty much a Tundra with a camper on. Hope this helps, somewhat.

Yes, Someone told me that the problem is with the immobilizer. Anyone know where it’s located? It seems logical that the problem would be in that!

You will more than likely need to take it to the dealer because running adaptions and getting keys to recognize uses a special program and probably needs to get on Toyotaa network.

Issue might be with a start up interlock. Having a damaged or unplugged wire can result in an immediate shut off after starting. I would check under the hood, check all the plugs you can see, check the fuse boxes as well. Any loss of current feedback will cause what youre describing.

In my experience, not with tundra though, immobilizers will still engage the fuel pump and start cranking but wont turn over unless the correct key is used..

last month month when I purchased my tundra it only came with one grey key and a fob. Dealer said they “didn’t have the black key” so I got one made at the dealer. 200 bucks. Well a week later the dealer called me and said they found the key. The old key will not start the truck. All it does is spin the starter. Dealer said that in order to make the new key they had to un program all other black keys. Hope that helps

In-law had an accord that did that...start then die. We checked alotta items but it turned out to be fouled MAF. Cleaned it and it was good
