I am in the market for an espresso machine. I really enjoy a daily coffee but the daily expense is adding up. I have done a little research and found some great machines and grinders, I certainly didn’t know grinders can be so damn expensive!

Anybody with recommendations for a fantastic dual boiler or heat exchanger machine? I would like a real good quality product and grinder, any input would be helpful.

I have a gaggia accademia that my whole family is in love with. I'd venture to say that it has produced about 7k shots for us thus far and is going strong. It is what they call a super automatic...basically just add water and beans and it does the rest. It makes coffee, espresso, latte, and cappuccino drinks. It is pricey, but deals can also be found. I found it on letgo for $150 because it had a corroded microswitch. Here is a link. They have cheaper options as well, I believe the Brera is their entry level model and has great reviews. Hard to go wrong with any of them.

Hey thanks for the input! Looked at the link, very cool! My interest at this point is a machine that can do fantastic micro foam as well as a consistent shot. I saw a profitec 600 that looks amazing https://www.wholelattelove.com/prod...ual-boiler-espresso-machine-with-flow-control That ultra smooth milk along with awesome shots and maybe the ability to pull three or four drinks immediately for friends, family. Anybody used the profitec?

Can’t help you with the espresso machine but I love my Rancilio Rocky grinder. A little spends, but the grind is the most important part of the entire process

I got the wife a Breville espresso machine last year and she loves it. Not the cheapest but it makes some good drinks!

Still looking, have it narrowed down to a profitec 600 or a Rocket R58.

Yep Red, it’s probably way overkill for me, but this is going to be my new hobby for now. We will see how it goes, lol.

I have a Profitec Pro500 I bought nearly two years ago. It's a great machine and I use it daily. It's only needed very basic maintenance.
I bought a Quamar M80 grinder to go with it. It's basic, inexpensive and very powerful. I bet it could grind bricks.

Great choice! That 500 was one of my dilemmas. Can’t wait to get started.

I couldn't wait either. I found mine at a local espresso machine store. I tried before I bought. I took mine home the same day.

Changed my mind about the pro 800 and bought the 700. I knew I’d want to fiddle with stuff a lot and I can do that with this machine. Now the torture of waiting for delivery began yesterday, lol. Looking forward to the fun.

I see you've already purchased but just have to say for the money and craftsmanship it's hard to be a Salvatore machine. The owner (Salvatore) has been making them in California for many years. I've had mine almost 10 and my dad has had his almost 20.

Also the best grinder you can get is made by mazzer in Italy. It's commerciAl grade and you will get a consistent grind every time. Very pricey but worth it if you are gonna be nerd deep in this hobby.

Beautiful machine! I have not seen one before, sounds fantastic. I looked at mazzer too, they are pricey. I got a good deal on the atom 65, I’ve used one in the past and it’s consistent and super quiet, I’ll give this system a go and see how I like it. I don’t want to regret not buying the lever machine. Lol

Ken, you're really going to like your new machine. You're getting dual boilers and a rotary pump so you'll have great espresso with little effort. I saw your machine side by side with mine at the shop I bought it from. I ultimately settled on my 500 because it was about a $1000 less. The difference in performance was not enough for me to justify the extra money. Mine has a vibratory pump so it's a little noisier than the rotary pump but not that much more. Mine also only has one boiler. I can still pull plenty of shots with mine.
I can't wait for you to get your machine. Maybe we can compare our espressos?

Thanks for the insight. Ive been looking for a while as you know. Actually pulled the trigger on the 800 but they were out of stock and that caused me to do a lot more research, lol. The 700, Grinder and all the goodies are on the ups trucks now and hopefully I’ll get it tomorrow. Lol

have some coffees ordered, probably way too many and just need to get a smart plug. Let’s definitely do a espresso call or photos or something. Thanks again for the info!

I'm up for that. I like any excuse to make myself some espresso. It's more addicting than beer. :)
I found an organic Kirkland brand of beans that comes out very good.

Recieved my toys, now I have to make sure I don’t OD on caffeine while playing with it!

I was practically bouncing off the walls from all the caffeine the first day got my machine. It took a few tries to get it just right.

Really Cool New Setup. I use the Expobar Office Lever Espresso Machine with a Rancilio Rocky Grinder. It's 6 years old and i've only replaced the pump once, not very expensive to replace and did the maintenance at home. No repair shops needed. It was a simple process. It makes great espresso on a daily basis.

Enjoy your new machine in good health!

Beans are important after the purchase of the machine. Where do you guys get your beans?

I have a local place, Georgio's coffee roasters. Best beans I could find locally.

Have heard great things about Jura machines, just very expensive.

I use a Nespresso for espresso and a Moccamaster or AeroPress for coffee.

I’ve had good luck with this grinder:
