My son has a 2012 Camry. I am going to change his hood struts and spark plugs. He wants me to change oil too. My first response was I don't crawl under cars. It has a cartridge filter. Does anyone know if my Tundra filter cap wrench and drain line will work on a Camry I4?

Make your son crawl under and check.

I bought a 2014 recently and can tell you the spark plugs are a joy to replace on the I-4. Takes maybe 15-20 mins.

Sounds like a great way to teach your son how to change the oil and do spark plugs. Whether he's mechanically inclined or not that's a fundamental skillset imo.

I recall I could change the oil filter from the engine bay on the 92 Canry with V6 we had.

He will get a lesson but would I trust him to do it on his own, NO. Daughter decided to change her oil on Rav4. I noticed some drips in driveway. Her pan plug was loose. When I asked who changed it. She said she did and guessed that she only hand tightened the plug. Told her she very lucky that I caught it and that she has a vehicle to drive.
