I'm about to build a shop and will definitely be installing a two post lift.
    I'd really appreciate any advice/insight/experience on brand/installation.
Hoping to avoid issues like this:

I'm perfectly happy with my Atlas 9KOH. I've never had any trouble with it. It was easy to set up and install. I did it all myself. I use mine for much more than lifting the trucks.zfF6fypTvl478uZAAw6TQTKf9pWMamH_gp-Wyl7F_4dd7f71dab829f8bbd453c0ec065116a4af2daef.jpg eShbg7JCu647b6kjQFRMd-rE6yrWnqYrVQTJ1RMm_2105af3f6bdc051f41375c8e3af16f96a6f5e34d.jpg sgWBQUY07jt3noY4df9hMptUPTy7tzmw8Vxlcfap_82249f482b963d5a0cb9b40a504c424d9fa5dfbd.jpg

I have the Atlas PV-10. It's an pretty good lift for the price, I don't have any real complaints. My one piece of advice is if you plan to lift small cars (sedans, coupes, hatchbacks) definitely get something with 3 stage arms. It can be very difficult to rack smaller vehicles on my PV-10 due to the large two stage arms.

Just here to say I'm jealous. Maybe when we move in a couple years I'll have room to get one.

The anchor is definitely too shallow. Most garage slabs are only 4 to 6 inches thick which aren't thick enough to anchor to. I would guess you'd need to go at least 8" into good strong solid concrete to be safe.

Excellent specs but each manufacturer will have their own specs. You definitely want to have a lift in mind before you build so you'll have their specs in your building plans.

No, shit! I think I designed my lift placement on paper 30 different times!

Thanks for all the great advice and comments so far, especially Bleach’s advice to pick the lift before designing the building. Such an obvious thing once you hear it. I was already heavily into the building design and much too thin a slab in my design.
Lots to consider so far. Please keep the comments/pics coming.
