Pardon me for asking newb questions. I was gifted this truck, and am still learning. I use my truck for hauling tools and paint mainly. I’ve been reading on here that I should probably just stick with a stock intake. I was looking at a new cold air, mainly because I love hearing a throatier sound and I won’t complain about a little extra gas mileage and maybe some horses. I’m not looking to do a whole lot of performance mods, but maybe a couple things here and there. I realize the 5.7 is more popular. Is there anyone that could guide me in the direction of a couple cool mods for the 4.6?

You can't beat the Toyota Cold Air Intake. Anything else that claims 'more air flow, more power' is selling you an inferior air filter that will let in more air at the cost of more dirt. Can't get somethin' for nothin', eh?

more than I can list here
Give a call for details, but here’s what you can do to a 4.6:

    long tube headers (2wd only)
    4.88 gears
    Sabm
    Throttle body coolant bypass
    Pedal commander
    Catback exhaust

If you got the money the 4.88 gears out way the rest on Keith's list.Headers are a lot of work but have value and changing the catback pipes give some nice sound.

Stock Air Box Mod. It's a kit that adds a 2nd intake tube from the fender to the box.
