Just an fyi. If your bumper freezes to the body of your truck it will sound like something is broken under your truck. Crawled under my truck twice looking for something broke. Then saw the bumper froze to the body. Chipped it out and was good to go... fun stuff

Haven't had the issue on my Tundra yet, but on a couple occasions when my Tacoma was parked on the sun, I'd get a big icicle solidly formed around my front cab mounts. The noise was horrific, sounded like there was a Honda Civic wedged under the truck when you were driving around.

IMG_3291.jpg IMG_3292.jpg Not often we get appreciable snow here in S NM, but the mountains can be fun after a storm. FYI, the stock rubber did "OK"...mostly due to the rocky terrain under the fluff.

I love your wheels - did you get them powder coated or did they come that way?

Just curious as this is my first pick-up in 35 years (ugghhh that sounded.....old) but anyway - way back when if we needed the rear traction, we'd throw sandbags in the back for extra weight. Does that still apply?

Also - great thread with some amazing pics...

These days we carry all sorts of whiz bang "expedition" gear...no sand bags required.

Sorry,I was being sarcastic. Many of us in the 4wd scene carry so much gear that we're already weighed down enough without sandbags.

To your question though, weight in the back of the truck definitely helps. Be it sandbags or something else. I work with a guy who put a couple glulam beams in his bed for ballast..

Thanks. I had the wheels painted by a local shop. Picked Toyota Radiant red

I have been running 4 50lb sand bags in the bed of my truck. When it gets slippery I use 4wd. So far nothing has stopped me. I did drive 50 miles at around 25-30 mph today though on the way to work.

So Cali is under water and it's not because we fell into the Pacific, yet. Rain equals Snow in the mountains for us believe it or not and we NEED the Snow more than the rain that just fills up the Pacific for us. Anyway's took my 2 year old up to see some snow for her first time. Even took some home with us for a Snowman on the front Lawn.
