yea, there were a couple of captains standing next to me on the train that were talking about that. i made a joke. they didn't find it funny.

some guy completely flipped out on the parking shuttle because the driver let on enough people to fill the available seats and got off before it left the curb.

people on the plane were even more paranoid. it was completely over the top.

roxy just called us. the bolshoi has put the academy on lock down. no one comes in. if a kid leaves to go home for their spring break, they are not allowed back for the remainder of the year. they aren't letting the kids out to go to the grocery either and some kids are out of water. the den mothers told them they would have to start boiling water. roxy said she has about 10L. maybe a little more. i haven't bought plane tickets to pick her up for the summer yet. probably should as i bet i could get a pretty good deal.

    Yikes. Good luck.

Stay safe people. I tried to go to court this morning and was turned away. Boulder County courts are closed and all court staff was told to stay home. I think there are positive tests at the jail.

Pretty much self quarantined here at home. Wife works on the isolation floor at a major metro hospital and is surrounded by covid 19 patients and possible patients all day. As such, we are considered high risk so better to play it safe than sorry

9:30 AM , 3/15 | I headed to the airport in San Diego
11:50 AM | Boarded my flight to Denver
4:15 PM | Arrived in Denver and headed to Aspen after a quick lunch
5:20 PM | Made it to Aspen and took a taxi to Glenwood Springs
6:45 PM | Checked into my Hotel and took a nice long walk around town

    Fast forward to 3/16 (today)

8:00 AM | Had breakfast with a nice lady I met in town
10:45 AM | After exploring town some more, I headed to Doc Holiday's Saloon for lunch and to hang out with the locals
12:00 PM | Purchased a few things from Bullocks. (If you like Western apparel and accessories, you should really check out this 3rd generation family run business)
1-3:00 PM | Meetings in town
3:30-4:30 PM | Took a taxi back to Aspen
4:45 PM | Hopped on a plane to Denver
6:25 PM | Plan was late and I had to quickly get on my next flight to San Diego
9:15 PM | Headed back to where I'm staying in Carlsbad
10:20 PM | I'm beyond exhausted and really don't want to go back to work tomorrow

I CAN'T WAIT to move back to Colorado. This trip really cemented that my heart is in Colorado. I love visiting these smaller mountain towns. It's so much fun to get to know the locals, the rich history, and spend some time gazing at the beautiful scenery

Over crowded now. No longer a sleepy little town. I have never seen it as empty as it looks in Bailey's pics.

i think it'd be very difficult to find a sleepy little mountain town these days. especially one that's affordable.

    :(
Been to all of those places in the past. My luck Monument Valley and Valley of the Gods will be closed for renovations when I get the chance to go. Future vacations the desert, an island, Ft Leonard Wood, MO and Ft. Benning, Ga. We're lucky to have all of these trails kind of close by though.

I hear ya. I tend to keep my vacations close to home; CO and neighboring states have lots of places to explore. In the summer I try to hit towns I've never been too. Steamboat is next on my list.

so, tomorrow moscow is going into full military lockdown. no one gets in or out of the city. all public transport will be stopped. no taxis. no buses. no metro. grocery stores and pharmacies will still be open for the general public but everything else is closed. a friend from moscow sent us a picture of the tanks rolling rolling down kremlevskaya naberezhnaya.

roxy's two russian roommates have already gone home. her third roommate, from japan, who's her best friend there is going home to tokyo tomorrow. none of them will be allowed back for the remainder of this academic year.

we've been on the phone with roxy for the last hour trying to reassure her that everything is going to be okay. we won't be able to get over to get her but we've got embassy contacts just in case everything goes f'ing sideways. neither of us feel that it will. the academy will take care of the kids.

    crazy times.
