Yeah it was false, lol. I get right at about the same I got with the bullydog, and right about the same I got with stock.

I was getting 17 mpg with my tune. I then changed my tires to 275 70 R18 and now getting low 16. Winter blends didn’t help and warning the truck in the mornings. I am running 89 octane.

Dap tuned my pro last month, my mpgs stayed the same, shifts are slightly more crisp and it’s slightly better off the line. Personally I noticed the midrange improvement the most out of anything. For example, before if I was going 60 and wanted to normally overtake someone while in 6th gear the truck would do it sluggishly and would most likely down shift to 5th. Now It handles the task better without being sluggish.

I noticed the truck will become crisper over time. Get a few tanks of 91 or better in there and you should notice improved power. I really noticed the low end torque the most. The tune eliminated the torque management which is huge as you found out.

Will the stage 2 DAP tune make my 2019 tundra 5.7 feel like stock quickness again?
Changed tires from stock 32" Michelin at2s to heavier 34"(LT285/70/18) nitto exos on factory 18" TRD wheels.... want the truck to feel stock again as far as HP, torque, and quickness....
    thanks for any input!

Thread has been dead for a year Ant...and quite frankly DAP is yesterdays news. OVTune has cracked the Toyota ECU's and has a ton more features. That and after doing some data logging and getting revisions you know your truck is dialed in.

Can OV be installed with a hand held unit like the DAP tune, or are customers still required to use a lap top?

    Kevin,
My understanding is a handheld is in the pipeline, but not available currently. If that is your deciding factor for the DAP tune then go with it and enjoy your tune. Just know that your deciding factor was also your limiting factor as you run a second/third tier...tune.

I have been enjoying my DAP tune for about 2 years now, thank you very much. When OV steps up with a hand held installation I'll most likely make the change, until then OV is not my tune.

Is good to hear you are enjoying your DAP tune. I think most everyone that has gotten it liked it much better over BullyDog and/or stock. I was seriously considering it myself but could not make the drive at the time for the FFV S/C tune. Then OVTune announced support for the Tundra platform and I got in on the development phase. If I had the DAP tune in my truck today and was happy with it I would most likely stick with it. That said if I was doing it over again today...Two tune maps...Gearlocking, Directshift, Data logging and revisions to fine tune the truck in the real world and make sure the tune is on point...OVTune all the way. Short of an in shop dyno tune using HP Tuners new platform everything else is yesterdays news compared to OV.
    Regard's

Thank you and everyone else that got in on the OV development phase, your work will make life much easier for others moving forward.

Does either do anything for an 08 Tundra 4.7 with a blown air injection pump control module?

Unfortunately no. You need a HewittTech module.

I have a 2021 TRD PRO and I’m considering having it DAP tuned. Will I need to use 91 octane gas after getting it tuned?
