Settled on a Lomax tri-fold cover from Agricover I believe. Before I pull the trigger, wondering if anyone has any experiences with tri-folds and hauling around a bike. I've got a bike I take to the track quite often and decided on the Lomax for the ease of removal and low profile look when it's on the truck.

Anyone have any success stories with other tri-folds before I purchase the Lomax? Maybe a tri-fold that folds up against the rear window to give you "full" bed access so I wont have to detach the Lomax each time I take it to the track. Pic of the bike for attention. 2007 Honda CBR1000RR, tuned and flashed, full Yoshi from headers back, quick shift....it's a monster :headbang:

I have the same issue with hauling a motorcycle. There are two covers I’ve been researching, they are the truxedo sentry and the weather tech roll-up. They are both about $850 bucks or so depending on the truck.

I settled on the lomax. Two pull cords underneath and its supposedly removed easily and I can throw it in the back seat or bed of the truck. Should be here in a few days so I'll see how easy it is.

I bought the extang trifecta 2.0 trifold and it is a great cover. Fast easy on/off, no leaks, but I just replaced it with a truxego roll up cover. Trifold is good when I plan to load the bike. When the shop called and I tried to pick bike up after work, trifold comes off and does not fit in cab and i didn't like leaving it in bed going down the highway.

The tri fold that stand up are pretty sketchy on the highway. I had an undercover flex before and the wind deflection from driving with it propped open is insane. I wouldn’t want to drive 65 with it propped up no way

That's what I figured. The rods holding it up seem flimsy. Would hate for it to slam down and smash the cowl of the bike

So it's still freezing here no need to take the bike out but the Lomax fits amazing and keeps everything extremely dry. Few car washes and only noticed some water at the tailgate that may have simply gotten in when I opened it no way to tell (not enough for me to complain about).

Had to go pickup my 35s the other day and the Lomax disconnects in about 5 seconds. Super easy to remove by yourself and store folded up in the garage/house. Come bike time I think itll be great.

Still let's me use the factory cleats on the bed rails as well. I'm happy with it.

With my old truck I didn't have a cover top but did have a short bed, the folding ramp / bed extender solved the problem of having enough space. When I bought a long bed truck this of course was not a problem, and I used a soft top roll cover. I typically go to the track with my bother in-law and he bought a folding trailer, make life so much easier, but in a pinch I can still load mine for a solo trip to the track. You might want to consider the folding / bed ext ramp like mine?

does that bed extender fold into the bed? I like the idea of it keeping groceries from sliding to the front lol

Thanks, I liked the 848 so much I built one from spares for track dedicated. I think it would but the wheel wells might be an issue I can check this weekend.

    Jmz,
How's the surface vinyl holding up to the elements with the X2? Looks like you have some additional rails on the truck, does the X2 clear the stake pockets?
I have narrowed down my choices to the X2/X4 or Peragon, now just gathering all the info I can.

Also, does your front tire reach the front of the bed when the cover is rolled up? Or is the front tire on the aluminum roll?

My tire is pulled up to the bed wall for sure. I was able to adjust the cover "enough" for that to be the case. I padded the fender under the aluminum and up against the cab. It is very functional.

It's been very good. I apply the 303 protection (recommended by Back) 2-3 times a year and so far so good.
I roll it up weekly and there is some fading but no tearing yet. No interference with the stake holes or the Tracrack. The two systems work excellent together.

I did the @TOTAL CHAOS bed braces to support the weight of a loaded rack on the rails and bed opening so no-go on the flip bed extender.

Rollups are definitely THE way to go if you're carrying bikes or motorcycles often. Trifolds really need to be removed for safely...folding them against the cab is a bad idea & restricts visibility too much (IMO). I went from a Truxedo to a Tyger rollup (both very low priced) and the Tyger's WAY easier. I have a chock mounted to 3/4" plywood that's been cut to fit the bed. Rear wheel of my street/dirt bikes is on the tailgate, but they fit in my 2017 CM. I'm thinking about a ReadyRamp (bed extender) to secure other items back there...but using a HF basic aluminum ramp for now. My brother built a Ready Ramp copy for his '92Taco, but doesn't want to take the time to build another. I'll post pics when we go riding again.
BTW, to those who have a ReadyRamp...do they "flip" into the bed for storage? From the pics, it looks like they don't? If not, is mounting difficult? Do they store under a tonneau or hard cover easily?
    Thanks

I have that bed extender/ bike ramp shown in the picture above. Its worked great on the dirtbikes and even the street bike. However does not fold into the bed to hold groceries (those ones take up too much space for me).
I also have a bar with front wheel locks that holds the front tires in place mounted in the truck. can't recall the name currently but I can carry three dirt bikes in the truck with that ramp. I had to mount is a little lower than instructions provide as the dirtbike tires are much higher than street so i had to split the difference.

My favorite bike carry tool is a braxley front wheel stand. it takes up a few inches in the front of the truck but bolted to my yard trailer or just in the bed it will hold the bike with no tie downs (still use them of course) triples soft ties to pull to hooks on yard trailer. They aren't cheap and you can buy knockoffs but I've been happy with mine. Mounted to that trailer and the bike is one with the trailer and very secure. (but you'd need a trailer)

but look up braxley front wheel stand. I've been happy with it.

I have the xtang trifold and have a pretty much "hate" relationship with it. the version 2.0 seems a lot lighter, smaller and easier to maneuver. I think i'd buy the metal roll up that fits flush with the bed caps if i was to do it again and could afford it. those things are expensive.
