So far I love it. I came from a 2005 Tacoma DCSB TRD Sport 6spd, which I do miss, but I don't regret the switch.

The only thing I miss from the Taco is:

    - more trail options
    -turning radius

    Glad you're enjoying the Tundra.

As you've already mentions I'm in the same boat as you were. Looking for a used tundra to have extra funds for mods. Not sure how I'm going to end up yet though. Not room for a new one till the wife's jeep is paid off. That won't be till next year. I guess if the right used one doesn't pop up before then, maybe I will change my mind.

Good luck with the build. Hope it starts taking shape sooner than later.

I will be honest, I didn't like the 14's either. I saw a real nice black 14 that had no chrome, all black, and I fell in love. I also like the interior on the 14's a real lot. I can't wait to get rid of that chrome and get the tint on.

Well the truck is clean and waiting for me to find the time to dip some things and put some goodies on, the cold weather isn't helping. Some updates will be coming soon. I am super pumped about the Swing Case, can't wait to have a place to secure my tie downs, tow strap, flares, etc.

Get to dipping that chrome. I have found that using a heat gun to dry each coat of plastidip works great. Makes it really quick to paint. Don't get it too hot though as it will bubble and burn.

I also highly recommend the glossifier.

I know I can't wait. I dipped some things on my old Tacoma and really liked the outcome. I haven't tried the glossifier yet, but I am hoping that the glossifier will help keep the colors as close as possible without real paint. I am thinking of doing gloss black over the chrome on the bumpers and grill, and flat black on the inside of the grill where it is a grey color now.

Thanks for the advice. My heat gun somehow broke on me, so I won't be using that, maybe a hair dryer if I am in a rush, haha.

thanks. while i was placing my paint protect order i decided last minute to do the 3rd brake light. I didn't put much thought into the shade, if i could do it over i would go darker. now i am dreading doing the paint protect. really hoping i don't mess it up. I am going to start with the smallest, easiest pieces, then graduate to the bigger pieces.

I put it on the fenders, hood (4" inches, I didn't go with the typical 9"), area under my headlights, the A pillars, and the door cups. It is not noticeable, zero orange peel, zero discoloration. If it gets some light scratches it self heals after heat hits it. If you research Sun Tek paint protection film you will see, it's pretty neat stuff. The only thing you will see if it's installed properly is the line where the decal ends.

The past few vehicles I had all ended up with rock chip(s) in the hood, A pillar(s), bumper, etc. A friend of mine had the whole front of his M3 done with Sun Tek paint protect and it looked great, you couldn't even tell.

Once it cures I will take some pictures of it and post it up. The sun needs to hit it for a bit. Overall I am very impressed with the product. I saved a ton of money but doing it myself, so far I'm happy with the job I did. I will be able to tell better after the sun hits it.

I am considering getting a 4" strip that goes along the top of the tailgate, to prevent scratching the paint while closing it. Trying to figure out if that is overkill....

Maybe the next truck will be silver haha...

Dipped the front and rear bumpers, and the Tundra and SR5 emblems. More dipping is on the list...

I haven't owned a vehicle with HID's yet, and really have no experience with any aftermarket HID kits. I wouldn't know where to start. I am interested in getting rid of all the chrome in the headlight, whether I do the BHLM or pick up a quality aftermarket set, there are some nice retrofit kits too.
Do you have any recommendations for HIDs?

That is what I use it for as well. I have tie downs, bungees, tow strap, hitch accessories, jumper cables, and flares in there. I don't have any complaints, for me it serves its purpose perfectly. I would recommend it.
After buying the swing case the lack of interior storage in the crew max isnt as issue. I lifted the seats for storage the other day and even though I don't want to admit it, there was a lot of usable space with the new design.

Just installed my matte black bedside decals! Love em! Subtle, but there.

Hey, your truck is coming along nicely! I wanted to color match the grill and bumper portions too but may decide to just leave it be. Looks good man :)
