Just curious what rangefinders you guys are using for hunting? Need to get me one and I figured I’d post here and see what you are using and the pros/cons of the ones you have.

Leica 1600b for about five years. Small, light, compact and nice glass. It will range animals at least to 800 yards.

I'm sure there are better ones out now for less $.

You can save some money if you dont want the ballistic functions as well. I dont use them since I dial for long shots. Most lrf have the incline/decline compensators which is a must have if using in the mountains (or bow hunting).

Vortex optics makes some nice ones at decent price points but their lifetime warranty is the best part. Stepped on it at camp? No questions asked they will send you a new one.

I have the Leica 1600 as well. It's been a great unit. It does just distance, which is exactly what I want it for. I have an angle indicator on the rifle for extreme angle shooting. I use Applied Ballistics for elevation and windage calced. I don't think spending extra for integrated ballistic calcs would be that helpful.

ETA- I believe it has a 7x lense. Perfect for east coast hunting. I dont feel the need to add binos in addition to the LRF.

I’ve been doing some reading and just curious what your thoughts are on Leupold? I like what I see on the RX-1600i TBRw DNA. It’s around the $300 range.

I have a vortex ranger that I got for 50% off a few “vortex days” ago on govx. No issues.

Just cut the max range in half for real world conditions.

Bilstein 5100 all corners, Toytech Shackles, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, Completely new sound system that sounds great but didn't cost an arm and leg, front camera, front receiver hitch
I bought a Bushnell Scout due to it being a local company. It sucks. Don't buy. I wish I had a Leica. Buy once and be done.

Vortex ranger 1300. Can’t beat the warranty. Luepold is nice too. Just had their scopes. Check out OpticsPlanet.com. They have everything to pick from and good prices.

Realistically this depends on what you want to be able to range and how far away.
