Spindle lift with oem wheels? It is possible

    Makes sense. I’m trying to imagine what aspect of the handling you’re looking to improve.

    Asking because ive considered spindles as an option too

    I would say that the spindles were more of a rugged feel compared to my 2013 tundra. The steering and overall feel of my last truck was exactly like stock and it had a spacer lift. According to the Maxtrac engineer who was talking with me he believed that spindle lifts and suspension lifts are from two different worlds. He said I sound like someone who would be happier with a suspension lift or even a spacer lift given off-roading is rare. He said those tend to ride a lot more like a stock truck as far as steering feedback and overall handling and feel.

    I’m actually thinking about asking my good friend that is an engineer and owns his own machine shop to see if he might could machine a lower grove to make it zero! I’m not sure if possible but I like the idea!

    I have my Maxtrac spindles on.. only thing I was confused with is the route of the brake line brackets. Anyone have a picture of there brackets?

    I flipped the bracket backwards Ill send you a photo of it. It gave me enough slack for the line going down the spindle.

    Well when I make a sharp turn my tie rods scrub the inside of my rim. I’m gone have to swap my tie rod ends around to opposite sides. I read the instructions for the cst spindles and that what they require. So I reckon I’ll be headed back to the alignment shop... again!

    Thanks. Spindles went on real good only thing I didn’t do was swap the tie rod ends from side to side. But it needs to due to the weird bend in them. Oh well. Maybe this weekend

    Last night I swapped my tie rods around and have about 3/4 inch of room now. All is well!

    I stumbled across this thread, was wondering if anyone has some insight to differences between CST ($1,110) and Maxtrac ($660). Is CST really worth the extra money?

    I stopped by SDHQ earlier this week to ask some questions about my lift / suspension setup. One of the guys pointed to a 2WD Tundra that was running 37x12.5r17 on spindles, which really surprised me. Im pretty sure it was the CST’s on a 2nd gen. I’m not sure how they got the tires to fit, I’ll need to go back and look more closely.

    I couldn’t justify the price of the cst. The maxtrac is plenty strong for my doings. If you was building a desert runner, cst might be superior due to being steel and welded v’s cast.

    as far as getting 37’s to fit... I’m sure they have the spindle lift stacked with adjustable coil overs or even a spacer lift to get 6.5 inches. (3.5INiches.+3.0inches)

    I believe he runs fiberglass fenders and an aggress Body mount chop to fit those tires plus an inch or so from coilovers. He has pics of his setup on this forum somewhere.

    What size tires are you wanting to run? Because NOTHING greater than a 285 wide (11.22 inch) will fit without wheel spacers. They will rub on your spindle

    A 12.50 would be extremely close. There was a guy in here running oem 20’s with a 275/65/20 (34.3 inch tall) and it looked very sharp. If I decide to keep my 18’s I will be going with a 285/70/18. If I can find a set of 20’s for cheap I will go with the 275/65/20 just for clearance reasons.

    Wow thanks for the pic. How much of a lift did it give you leveled out or no.. I appreciate the feed back I know fabtech uses the spindles as well. Not looking to upgrade uca either..

    Look at post #40. That is with the spindle lift installed. It sits roughly 1/4 inch high in the front end. But I read that a lot of people use a shackle lift in the rear to get 1 to 1.5 inch of lift in the rear.

    no need for UCA. All the front end geometry stays exactly the same as factory.

    Spindles are the best way to lift a 2wd if thats your goal. Everything stays as is, just the wheel is mounted further down

    The smallest spindle lift I’ve seen is 3.5”. You can go even higher (4” or 6”), but I haven’t seen any smaller than 3.5”.
