hey tvpierce, I’m up in Calais, about 4.5 hours east of you.

I don’t think it’s too bad, definitely had the replacement and not the coating.

 

if you haven't been to CdA you haven't lived. Inland NW is the truth, and im not just saying that because I lived there for three years.

Beautiful area up there. Nice looking truck!

When it warms up, be sure treat it with something to protect against rust (frame and body). Lots of choices. I prefer WD-40.

 

In the spring time when I get a little free time, I’m going to needle scale the frame and coat it in POR-15. The bed is in pretty rough shape, so I’m hoping I can find one in good shape for 800-1000 rather than rebuild the current one.

That's what I did too. Lots of work, but worth it. If you're going to replace the bed anyway, take it off before you do the prepping and painting of the frame. It will make the job so much easier, and will allow you to do a more thorough job. Parts of the frame are just not reachable with the bed on.

BTW, even though I POR-15ed the frame in the summer, I still coated the entire frame/body/rocker & door interiors with WD-40 in the fall, and will continue to do so each year.
