I figured we talk about cooking so much and we ask each other for recipes we might as well have a thread just for it! So, here is the first one:

    Nana's Sweet Potato Souffle

3-4 Sweet potatoes (skinned, boiled, & then mashed)
    1/2 C sugar
    1/2C milk
    1/2 stick of butter
    1tsp vanilla extract
    pinch of salt
    3 eggs beaten

    Topping:
    1/2C brown sugar (packed)
1/2C self rising flour (regular flour works too)
    1/2 stick of butter
    1C chopped pecans

Bake @ 350° for 40-45 minutes in casserole dish

Mexican rice..from my mom...4 or more people you need 2 cups long grain rice (Comet Rice brand name or what ever long grain rice you use) also 4 cups chicken broth (cambells chicken broth )..If 3 people or less 1 cup rice 2 cups broth...1 sweet onion...1 bell pepper (green)..2 Roma tomatoes...seasonings- salt n pep..ground cumin (makes the flavor)..garlic powder...you need a pan with lid...
Prep work...cut ends off tomatoes bell pepper and onion and cut long ways I like thin slivers on onion you only need half of it
You need your 4 cups of chicken broth ready in container also add a tablespoon of Knorr Caldo de tomate (tomato seasoning) mixed in broth

    Cooking..
Splash of cooking oil with rice on medium heat toss rice and mix in seasonings teaspoons each or to taste brown rice til almost golden brown and mix in cut tomato onion bell pepper..when rice is browning throw in chicken broth leave heat on medium..you need to watch it cook broth til it's almost gone..once broth is gone cover with lid put heat on sim and let sim for 5 more minutes then turn off..rice will fluff up serve n njoy!

Oh no, the yolks need to be raw, the whites, not so much. Must have toast, scrapple or put it on top of a hamburger, with a scoop of rice and some brown gravy on top.

I'll throw out a recipe for those who want to contribute but aren't into cooking. This recipe takes 5 minutes of prep and then cook, and gets really good reviews.

    Corn Casserole

    8 oz sour cream
1 box jiffy corn muffin mix
1 -16 oz can white corn
    1-16 oz can cream corn
    1 stick butter

melt butter then add all ingredients in a bowl and mix

bake in greased casserol for 35-40 min at 350

    * edited to add name of dish

I made some sausage balls for a little party last weekend. They were easy and very popular.
2- 8oz logs of Jimmy Dean sausage, 1 plain 1 hot
    1.5 cups bisquick
    4 cups shredded cheddar
1/2 cup each of chopped onion and celery
    Black pepper
A few dashes of liquid smoke (if you don't have a smoker and want smoke flavor)
Leave ingredents out to room temp then mix them all in a bowl. Form into 1 inch balls
Bake at 375 for 18 min or smoke at 265 for 25 min

I made 2 dipping sauces to go with them
    1/3 cup mayo (I use duke's, always duke's)
1/3 Dijon mustard and a Tbsp cracked mustard (the seedy stuff)
4 Tbsp pure maple syrup (home made obviously)

    1/3 cup ketchup
    1/3 cup sriracha
    1 Tbsp mayo
2 Tbsp honey or.....my maple syrup is even better
    A few shakes of parsley

Been wanting to do this for a while now. It doesn't get any simpler than this.

2 or 3 ingredients. One with sugar or substitute, one with none.
Pick the ice cream of your choice. I decided to go with butter pecan.

    Ingredients:
3 cups of softened ice cream (microwave or let it sit till room temperature)
    2 cups self rising flour
1 table spoon of sugar or not

    Preheat oven to 350*
Spray your bread pan with nonstick
Mix flour and ice cream till smooth. Pour evenly and level it out.
Bake for 40-45 minutes, test with toothpick.

    Delicious :cookiemonster:

Smoked brats with sauerkraut and sauteed perogies.

    Smoke the brats until done.
Sourkraut with garlic cloves and 1 bottle of beer. Cook it until the its tender. Put the brats in the sourkraut for about 45 minutes.

Cook the perogies in water first. Then saute in butter with garlic and pepper until brown.

Brown mustard only!!! Its a brat not a hotdog, NO KETCHUP!!20200223_164203.jpg
