You should re-read what you wrote. It's a little mixed up. From what I gather you have a check engine light with the code P0171. You got it after driving through deep water.

First thought is check to see if the air filter is wet.
Second thought is MAF sensor is dirty.

"The MAF (Mass Air Flow) Sensor is dirty or faulty Note: The use of "oiled" air filters may cause the MAF to become dirty if the filter is over-oiled. There is also an issue with some vehicles where the MAF sensors leak the silicone potting material used to protect the circuitry. There could be a vacuum leak downstream of the MAF sensor Possible cracked vacuum or PCV line/connection Faulty or stuck open PCV valve Failed or faulty oxygen sensor (bank 1, sensor 1) Sticking/plugged or failed fuel injector Low fuel pressure (possible plugged/dirty fuel filter!) Exhaust leak between engine and first oxygen sensor"

"Clean the MAF sensor. Consult your service manual for it's location if you need help. I find it's best to take it off and spray it with electronics cleaner or brake cleaner. Make sure you are careful not to damage the MAF sensor, and make sure it's dry before reinstalling Inspect all vacuum and PCV hoses, replace/repair as required Inspect all hoses and connections in the air intake system Inspect and/or test the intake manifold gaskets for leakage Check for a dirty fuel filter and proper fuel pressure Ideally you'll want to monitor short and long term fuel trims using an advanced scan tool If you have access, you may want to run a smoke test"

"Usually means vacuum leak on the intake manifold gasket, a vacuum hose, PVC hose, etc, or the MAF is dirty, or there is a fuel delivery problem"

    Check the vacuum hoses first!

Wow thank you! Well I took off the air box for my trd Cai and looked around no signs of water or dirt. When I went to put it back on noticed the tube that goes to the intake manifold had fallen out! Then I noticed the clamp was lose. So once I tighten the clamp and was checking over everything in a dark wal mart parking lot in hick desert town called Pecos Texas haha I seen that a tube feeding off of the main red air intake tube was off. Really upset since I had Toyota do the install and here I am stuck out in West Texas on a job for about 3 weeks.... I am going to contact them and email them what's going on and the problems this is causing me and maybe even my trucks... Once this was done my truck drove normal again with the feeling of all the power being back but the codes are still there.. Once I can make it to a dealership I think there's one about 45 mins away I'm gonna see what they can do for me.

That's good. The code prob just needs to be reset at this point. I bet you corrected the issue.

Purchase an UltraGauge, hook it up in the truck and clear the code yourself or have O'Reilly or someone clear it.

And Bry- Thank you good sir.

Yeah I took the + off because for the life of me rachet or wrench I couldn't get the negative off so I'm gonna have to get some coke and clean it whenever I get back home but took the pos off for 30 seconds to a mins went to start the truck started turned right off waited tried it again started right up code off 198 moles later no code and slightly better gas mileage! I did find out my extended warranty was not included in my loan so I added that for another 35000 miles for 1k and gonna monitor my truck and if nothing else or no codes show up next service I'll just have the dealer look her over!

Slightly different description but falls under, MAFS. Hoping to find a simple hose like you. Actually think the description is more in the lines of wiring. Will look into it tomorrow.

Ah, yep. I ran the same filter. Not only did it drop my low end tq, but my truck popped the same code when I was going up a slight grade. I put the stock paper filter back in, cleared the code and haven't had it pop up since. Not to mention my low end and mpg went back up... Maybe not your problem, but a good chance it is.

Installed the drop in in July. Never had the code till now. Shouldn't be the problem.
    Low end is fine.
Installed the exhaust Monday. Code came up Friday. Shouldn't be exhaust though either. Just a muffler replacement.

Out of curiosity, try popping the stock filter back in just for giggles to see what happens.

Did you try taking the negative off after install of the exhaust?

Reset this morning and was fine till I got up around 75-80 on the highway then got the code again. No check engine light this time.
Suspended the code and this showed up f3a6e87c9e8a02af68b6b18a952aa463_f373fa0588a485afde01a6b623e5882fd2687ad8.jpg
Might be an issue with the ultra gauge. Don't know.

I emailed the BA Muffler guys and they said that code is very common for Tundras. Happens to his with very large tires and goes away with smaller tires installed. Shouldn't be related to exhaust.

Ive heard a lot of guys getting that code too. That is a little wierd. Maybe it would be a good idea to reset it all. If you reset, will you have to redo the speedometer calibration? I kniw you say the filter is fine, but if you reset everything and still have the paper one, it might be worth it to put it in for a couple hundred miles and see if the code still pops. Tell me to buzz off if you want, but after I changed it out I didnt get the code again and I have dual exhaust. At any rate im interested to hear what you discover.

Just curious if the increased flow of the exhaust is giving the code... Would like to see your results after you reset the system. Also what all does that lil screen in the pics do? Sorry for the rookie question I'm sure but I have been out of the truck game for bout 8 years and have only had my tundra for about 5 months.

Reset and haven't had the code again yet.
When it warms up and the snow clears I will do some testing between the stock filter and the AFE drop in dry filter.
I seamed to get the code at 75-80mph on the highway so I will test between for that as well to see if I get the code vs not.

The screen in the pics is my ultra gauge. It displays various information like engine temps, exhaust temps, torque, mpg, rpm, etc. Also will show and can clear trouble codes when the check engine light comes on. It is not a programmer. They run around $50 and are cheap way to find out what the check engine light is without the visit to toyota.

yep bank account is running low from it..
csuviper... to me it sounds like the Ecm is getting confused ( stock programming to learned programming in the ECM).. why is throwing the code at you... Sounds like the O2's are giving wrong readings or the Maf and the o2 are dropping out on you causing the code also. I noticed in your pic the engine was cold so the fuel system should be OPEN not closed on the o2's.. Now since im thinking about it Maf might be having a dropping out just for split second causing the problem also.

Dumb question is your grounds tight and clean?

I took the pic after I shut off the engine. It was warm. Code displayed after driving around a bit and then hitting the highway around 75mph.
Did not get the trouble code at all today.
I do have the Hypertech interceptor programmer that is installed inline with the MAF. That could have caused the MAF to drop out for a sec. Not sure.
No engine problems at all. No loss of power that is associated with the MAF being dirty or not functioning properly.
