@jImmegart - Sorry for the late reply. I do plan to do a full exhaust. Currently, it does have a magnaflow muffler and cats but I want to go with long tube headers and bamuffler setup. No plans for a rear sway bar at the moment.

    On to small updates.

    • Diff breather mod completed - pics below
    • Coastal Front Bumper purchased - getting modified cutouts for lights/winch access so awaiting final proof for approval
    • Purchased new smooth bed cap rails and rubber seal tape - hoping to minimize water intrusion into the bed of the truck as this will used at times for sleeping
OME suspension and SPC UCA's will be installed after the bumper/winch. I would like for the weight to be there prior to doing the alignment so holding off on this for the time being.

Lastly, I think in the next week or so I will order the Baja Design lights for the bumper so once it comes in, I can get it welded up and everything installed at once. Not sure if I'll go powder or paint. I can probably get paint done for very cheap at my work but may prefer powder.

    More updates.

Some have seen some of this posted in the "what have you done..." thread but figured I'd update the actual build thread.

    • Front bumper has been approved for cutting. Below is a pic of what it will look like. I plan to add a hoop to it during the fabrication process.
    • Baja Design lights have been ordered.
    • Connected head unit to steering wheel
    • Removed topper to replace rubber
    • Removed bed rail caps to replace with newer "smooth" rails
    • Reinstalled Topper
    • Updated interior lighting with white leds

Below are pics of some of the above mentioned. Once I finish up, I'll post a few more but have to run to the store to grab some caulk for the bed cap rails.

Are those bedrail caps OEM or aftermarket? Cost?

Aftermarket - They were about $100 for all (3) from Amazon. Definitely not as thick as OEM but I wanted to remove all the holes and go with flat to allow for the best sealing between topper and bed rail. I test fit one side and it seemed pretty good, a bit tight, but I think will work well and the inside plastic aligns with the actual bed rail which I like more than the OEM because the clamps were compressing the OEM caps a bit as they hung lower than the actual rail.

    Finished up the topper.

Because I'm impatient, I had my wife help me "set" it on the bed and then I moved it in place by myself....or so I thought. The front rubber piece was getting caught so I was in the front of the bed trying to lift and slide when I lost track of the back end and it slid off!! Thankfully, no windows or major damage was sustained but I did scrape my brand new bed cap rails!!!!

Anyway, I got it back up, aligned and overall where it needs to be. Unfortunately, the front passenger side has a decent gap but everything else looks like it sealed very well.

Feedback on the bed rail caps - I would NEVER install these with the "VHB" tape they include. It's some cheap knock-off 3M tape that honestly won't hold. Because I was using silicone and placing a topper on them I ran with it but never would I run them the way they came.

    Reinstalled topper!

So you ran a beadof silicone under the bed rail caps when you installed them?

Yea, I ran a full circle up and down the bed rails. There's a ton of holes that the OEM one clips into and I wanted to try to keep the water that may splash up from tires to drip back out instead of coming into the bed if that makes sense. I don't know if it will work but worth a shot.

Oh, and realized I need a relocation kit for the winch...so I ordered that too.

I need a winch for my coastal bumper. Not sure what to order as far as what will fit and the specs required for the truck yet.

It has a standard bolt pattern so most winches will fit in that regard. The height is the "issue" but you have about 8" available in height OR you can relocate the solenoid which is what I'm doing. I'm using the Zeon 12 for mine for a size comparison.

For some reason I had it in my head this truck was a DC. Not sure why. I just looked back at the pics.

Kind of wish it was. I didn't want the extra overall length but had I know how small the access cab rear seats were and the fact the DC has the window in the back I would have def gone DC but overall still happy with it. Its main purpose was to drive me only. If the family was going, I would take the LX470.

FINALLY got my truck back! So happy with the look.

But...there's a few things that I need to work through.

    1. Winch - Even with the relocation kit, it's about 1/8" too big!!!! - This is extremely frustrating but when we measured the winch without the solenoid on top, we missed the fact the gear handle was higher than the center of the winch. I am hopeful that I can get the Zeon in my LX470 and get something a little smaller for my truck.
    2. Lights - I deleted (1) set of lights and made a few small changes so unfortunately, the person fabricating my bumper didn't realize the tabs for the "angled" lights and straight lights were different and welded on the wrong tabs. Issue, my lights angle outward. We can fix this but going to get them wired up today and see how bad they are. Might also add a 10" light bar in the front slot once I get the winch figured out (if it'll fit).

What boost are you running? The 2UZ has weak rods, so it can only handle forced induction with low limitation. There's a guy running TRD supercharger with NOS, and he blew his motor. The issue maybe with the NOS, but 9 psi with TRD seems to be at its peak for factory engine. https://www.lextreme.com/single-turbo-toyota-tundra/

It's only 5-6psi. Max seen was 7. Shouldn't be an issue. If it is, I'll rebuild with pre-95 1uz rods but until then I'll continue to beat on it :)

Pre 95 1UZ rods are good alternative and super cheap. Lol. I ran 9 psi turbo on my SC400 95 for a long time without issues until it blew a head gasket, but the rods were still good.

@imDementeD that bumper turned out really nice. Love the way it looks. But given the issues people keep having with welding this kit up, I'm leaning towards the Brute Force option. That's a real bummer the winch doesn't fit.

Just to be clear my fabricator had minor issues putting the bumper together some things didn't align exactly but they are hidden (keep in mind it's a 17yr old truck with almost 300k). The issues that I mentioned above were because of changes I made that are not reflected in the instructions that I should have made more clear to my fabricator so that is on me a 100%. The winch wouldn't fit in a brute force either which again is a 100% my fault I didn't think it was going to but was hopeful that I could make it.

Overall I think the bumper is amazing and well worth the price and delivery time. The person I dealt with was very responsive easy to work with and helpful throughout the entire process.

The biggest difference in my opinion is how good of a fabricator you are or the person you're hiring will be as that can make and/or break the experience. Thankfully mine, imo, came out very well.

    Really appreciate the compliments!

Nice build - we are close twins, mine is an 04. I agonized over 285/75/17 vs 315/70/17 for months.

Ended up going bigger and that has turned into a can of worms I’m working though including a custom LCA for better caster and to move the wheel more forward and a wheel spacer so I could have my turning radio is back. I’ll get a build thread up soon.

In hindsight if I wasn’t so obsessed with running a 35 the 34 would have been perfect especially given our front diff weakness.

On that note I went 4.88 and love them, overgearedva bit but with all the weight it’s needed (identical to you except for the shell). Bumper, winch, sliders, skids....full tank of fuel and me (200 lbs) puts the truck at 5700lbs.

Wondering why you are going 4.88 vs 4.56. With your blower you will have plenty of power and the 4.56 will be more durable especially for your front diff.

Hate to say it after all this $$$ but I would go 285/65/17 with 4.56 and been more comfortable hammering on it and not have all of these fitment issues to get it right.

Also having issues with my spring rate, 700 is too soft and 800 is too stiff (running king 2.5s). Trying some shock plate modifications to get a longer 750 spring in to see if it helps. Attached pic is the 700 at full stuff with levelride height vs 800 way too stiff.

Cool build though I am definitely on the hunt for a supercharger , you got a great deal finding a truck with it already installed, a la carte pricing is brutal!

Your truck looks great! I was going to add the small hoop onto the bumper but decided against it last minute. I like both options for sure!

Tire size - Very happy with this tire size. I hit frame a little at full lock but hoping I can adjust this with the UCA's.

Gearing - I originally planned 4.56 but then spoke with Keith at Dirty Deeds and he recommended 4.88s so I thought "what the hell" and switched. I do appreciate your feedback and may go ahead and switch back to my original idea. I think 3.9 to 4.56 will be a large enough change.

Suspension - Trying to get this installed Thurs/Friday but from what I've read, the 660lb from OME should ride very well with the weight BUT we'll see!! I haven't got the winch installed since I need to order a smaller one and still need the skid plates.

What winch are you running? Any pics of the install/placement of solenoid?

Overall, very happy with the purchase. I will say I have spent more than most would probably guess but a lot of that is due to having to pay someone to do most of the work. Just don't have the extra time and what time I do have I rather spend with the kiddos!

Again, beautiful truck and good luck on the charger. There's (2) on ebay but it's at like $5600+ (maybe reach out and make an offer, doubt he'll sell it for that price) (one is a 9th/10th injector which is what you'll want and the other is a 9th injector)

She’s in the shop once I get it back will get some solenoid pics. Running the smitty 9500 w/ syn line.

4.88s are great but Keith’s 1st gen is a dirt only monster, you still need your street manners.

Higher revs don’t bother me and our trucks love it anyways - your call.

Grim jeeper has a really nice page that lets you see your freeway rpms in 4th 3rd etc. worth a look. Our trans is the Toyota A340

    http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html

Lastly, also did a valve body, made the truck shift so much tighter. Nice option when you have to rebuild the tranny.

Great feedback. I'll check that site below and see what I feel works best.

Def looking forward to a rebuild on the trans. Already saved Level10's valve body/converter for when that time comes.

Looking forward to your pics when you get her back!

    UPDATES!

    • OME - Installed
    • SPC UCA's - Installed
    • Husky Floor liners - Installed (I'm a little conflicted on these, they cover so much area which is great but the fitment is a little rough. Hoping they will settle over time)
    • Alignment - Completed (no more frame rub at full lock)

OME setup looks and feels SOOO much better than what I had. It's incredible the difference that has been made. With this setup and alignment, I was able to get the tires from hitting the frame!!

Also, my Hellwig front sway bar came in so I am going to try to get that done this weekend.

Anyway, pics of progress below. Currently, at the front, we're sitting 24" from the center of wheel to the wheel well at the front and 23" in the rear. Still have winch and skid plates to add in the front and drawers with gear in the rear!

I had husky liners in my 03 taco and they were nice but not as nice as weather techs and for such a small upcharge, I went with the weather techs this time around and I'm pretty happy with em.

I wanted weathertec as I have them in the lx470 and love them but there seems to be some that fit and some that don't with all the different console/bench types so was nervous to spend a couple hundred and not fit correctly.

Going to give the husky a fair chance and see thoughts over the next few months. Anything is better than the worn carpet mats that had 80lbs of dirt embedded into them. Literally couldn't get them clean!!

One issue I had with husky was the lack of a floor hook on driver side. Overtime my driver would slide forward and warp
