Tire recommendation?

Hi Folks,
New member here from Saline/Ann Arbor, MI. I love this forum, very informative!
I'm looking to learn what experienced Tundra users believe is a preferred tire to use for regular road usage application: Nokian Hakkapelitta, Michelin, Continental, other?

You want a highway tread or are you needing all season type tire? Your area gets snow...do you need something rated for snow? Need more information on the type of driving/conditions.

I like my Michelin Defenders. Quiet, good traction in rain. Have not driven in any snow yet.

Had some Hankook Ipike snow tires on for a couple winters and they were great. Just put a set of Falken Wildpeaks on. They're quiet on the road and do well in the snow and wet. If I specifically needed a highway tire I would go Michelin.

Welcome from SoCal! The stock Michelin's that came on my truck were great pavement tires, only P rated so not a good choice off road (that is why I ditched them) and not so good for towing. But great in the rain and quiet. If you are looking for all-season/snow rated without being heavy tires like the Falken's are from what I understand, look at the Cooper AT3 XLTs. They are LT rated so a better towing choice than a P metric and 3peak snow rated in many of their sizes (check the size you need first if you need 3peak). They are not as heavy as the K02's too, I've had K0s and they suck in rain and are noisy on the road but are 3peak rated. The Coopers are super quiet on the road and work great in the rain. They also do quite well in mud and sand so that's a plus. Check out the Wheels & Tires section for more info. I lurked around there for a while before making my choice, lots of good info.

Please correct me if I misunderstand your suggestions-taken wholesale, that Michelins might be the best for my application of primarily road warrior driving. When I really need traction in the snow, I'll use 4wheel drive. Please respond if I misunderstand. Thanks, Walter

 

Welcome from CO. My next set will be Cooper AT3 XLT. Give them a look.

 

Cooper AT3 XLT is quiet on the road. I too am a road warrior, 25k a year, but I do go ot and venture to different terrains. Sand and mud. Occasional slush when I go up north.
