I actually bought the headlight wiring harness (I bought two) to test on the Runner before using one in my 911. I've had no issues whatsoever with the harnesses I linked above. Ceramic bulb sockets won't melt. Heavier wire shouldn't melt. Relays take the load off the factory wiring.

Yea I just got high output bulbs and stuck them in. I melted my sockets and wiring. I should have used the ceramic plugs and relay kit

An alternate to melting and burning up your truck:D:

If your Head Light Housings are faded, then Akkon makes a combo pack (lamps and side markers) for around $115.

If you want a good value thats plug and play, you can try LED Katanas for around $49. Nice white modern light and depending on your year Tundra should just plug right in without resistors.

Check my build page for pics.

Without upgrading the wire harness, 55/65 work, and for the bumper lights 55. Also having new lenses, this is a good enough upgrade. I think I used silverlights, but whatever your choice, dont go 80/100 unless you upgrade the harness.

You wil get many opinions. HIDS are the most light. LEDs are next. I went with halogen Osram night breakers head lights and fog. Still yellow but whiter and brighter than standard hologen. I may got HID next time.

As PFM mentioned, if you housings are dull/yellowed, I'd start there. After that, the sky is the limit. Aftermarket bulbs, all the way up to retro fits.

Yes and no. HID's do produce the most light but in standard reflector housings, they scatter light all over the place and suck. It almost isn't usable and it literally blinds oncoming traffic. I tried them in my truck and no bueno.

I used to be 'that guy' and run HID's in all my rigs but after retro fitting my last few vehicles, I will never go back. There is a reason all the new vehicles are starting to come with projectors and LED/HID's from the factory.

you will get many options. HID are brightest. Next LED. I went with Osram halogen. Brighter and whiter then standard halogens but still a little yellow. I may got HID next time

Love my retros. Expensive and more things to maintain but I would go this route again. I already upgraded all of my wiring thanks to Kustom 54 as he went to more reliable wiring. Sent me everything for free.

I didn't see any sets for the first gen tundras listed on their site.

    Ayyyy!

Yes I did make those and do offer them for sale. Although I don't reuse your old housings, you get brand spanky new ones!

It's literally a night and day difference, just go through the thread.

H.I.D.'s are nice, but more money and more work. I thought about them when I went to upgrade my Datsun 240z crappy lighting. I just went with the H4 conversion, using 80/100 off road lights. My wiring harness is upgraded for this. I say to self, I dont need anymore light than this, glad I didn't waste money on H.I.D's. They are brighter than anything I ever drove. Good enough. So if using the 80/100 bulbs and upgrade your harness and get some new lenses for $30 on Rock Auto, you will be fine.

Looks like the bulbs I just ordered might be going back. Glad I did not open the packaging yet.

Maybe someone from @Headlight Revolution can hop on and address some of these comments especially regarding their Vision X 80W 1200 Lumin halogen bulbs.

Emailed @Headlight Revolution Friday regarding the need for upgraded harness, no reply.

Maybe they went out of business

That post was actually a joke. I hope to get the bulbs installed soon as it warms up a bit.

Thanks for your help - I do appreciate it.....
