Had my truck up in the shop today to do my 30k mile interval service and found my driver side cam tower is leaking. Anyone with a 3rd gen have the same issue?

With the brake lines in the way it was very difficult to get a photo of the leak but if you look on the rear driver side head you can see oil seepage from the cam tower

It's the freaking automobile manufacturers being cheap and instead of using a gasket they elect to use freaking RTV or some kind of Anaerobic sealer.

Oil burning smell is only evident after driving 20+minutes

Dropped the truck off this morning. As expected they cleaned up the area and put in a dye. They've asked me to return in 500miles. Looking to get truck back in next week..500 miles is a weekly norm -.-

yep bank account is running low from it..
It's been done for years man. Hell my 95 Tacoma still has the original rtv seal on the oil pan when I bought it new no leaks still.

Alot has to do with the type of metals you are trying to seal. Also temperature and humidity play the biggest factors when the sealant is curing.

Side note to this. If the parts in question are failing like I have seen here and few other places I lean toward something is either not machined right and/or using sealant to fill a void. Or piss poor engineering/manufacturing processes in place.
