So the wife is fine and for the most part so is the tundra(maybe). She was at a light and someone hit the tow hitch and bumper at about 20 mph. Everything looks ok, but noticed that the tailgate is now off at the bottom left hand corner close to the bumper. It was not like that before. I have pics of it before. Not sure what that means as that’s the only damage I can notice besides the scuff on the painted bumper. Haven’t delt with an accident in over 15 years for both of us. Right after I got my new wheels put on too. Hopefully it’s not that bad but since the tailgate is off it could be worse than I think. You can see how the gap starts off wider at the top and starts to get narrow at the bottom. It used to be equal all the way.4E940192-ABE3-4FB1-A2FA-9A252CF53DE5.jpg

The scuff is on the bottom right side of the picture.

Ya I know I can buff it out. That’s the least of my worries. It’s how the truck bed or tailgate lines up that concerns me. It wasn’t like that before. Not sure what got damaged to cause that and what needs to happen to fix it. That’s my concern. You never really know how bad it is since clearly something shifted to cause the gap to change.

It came with the truck so not sure. Ya she feels ok, but usually you’ll feel injuries the day after, so we’ll see tomorrow.

Glad all good. Start looking underneath the truck side to side see if you see anything different. Open tailgate if you can take it off. Scope everything out. The rear comes off in 3 sections. Highly doubt frame is bent look at the springs see it things are aligned. Maybe just the twist of cheap metal used now a days. If you can’t find any major tell wifey thank you I’ve been looking at this aftermarket bumper I wanting so badly, and go shopping!! No but seriously glad all is ok. Looks minor and need alignment. If truck is driving with no problems I doubt there’s a major issue.

Op2 body shop est. pay deduct fix

    Op3 leave it for character.

Op4 try push bumper back out with pump jack.

    Good luck

Thanks everyone. She’s all stressed cause she knows how I am about my tundra. It’s my sugar baby. I treat the truck better than myself. I’m not mad, just bummed out that if any damage were to happen to my vehicle, I would prefer it to be done by me and preferably wheeling while having a good time. This is the other guy. You can see he hit her on the left side and went under my truck. Sitting on 37s with a 3/2 lift. He hit my tow hitch that has a tow ring not a ball. You can see where that ended up in, right under his passenger headlight. 7ECBB744-74DC-4BBB-97A7-8F1D54A0E4FD.jpgFFEBF6C5-033D-4392-9541-94AE42C98709.jpg048F95F3-93C7-41BE-A2F4-C2F528B3E469.jpg8DE93A66-0AB9-4269-929F-75B8618353EE.jpg

Also. Not sure what’s right behind what that tow ring hit but there was some kind of oil all over it.

Unless she backed into that car, rear enders are always at fault. Exactly what i would do. Unless you can live with it. Then get the money it would cost to fix it and pocket it.

Glad your queen is all right. I would still have her get checked out.

Truck is totaled. New White Pro’s are on sale right meow. Sounds like a good excuse to me...

truck probably has minimal damage. Bumper brackets might need re-aligned. Over the years I have seen some horrendous accidents with the Tundras. Owners just walk away with a few scratches and start new threads on what trim level tundra to buy next.

It was an off duty sheriff. Still in his uniform going to pick up his kids. He felt horrible. He just got done working a double and dozed off for a second. He also has a Jeep that he’s modding and said he was thinking about getting a tundra and he said he just hit his dream truck after he saw everything on my truck. Told my wife to apologize to me multiple times. I’m glad both of them are ok. Could have been worse if he was going speed limit. Happened on the highway.

As for the truck. We already started a claim and waiting for the claim adjuster to call to see where to take it.

Thanks to the hitch that’s why his hood pushed back. I had a Sebring go under neath my 2004 dodge. Truck nothing, Sebring whole front end. I know how you feel about your baby. I’m the same way, my wife won’t drive my truck because I won’t let her. Every time I see a bird shit on my truck I’m almost wanted to shoot the bird. And yes I’m that guy that bdl parks all the way at the end of a lot and walk to come back and find some ass park next to me. I’ve learned of the years to let go things I can’t control if something happens. Also I’ve learned it’s replaceable. But my wife kids aren’t. I’d rather see me go before them. I would give my truck house and what other shit I have for them. Just sign the Tundy a song say something like it’ll be all right tonight my sweet baby. Am I telling once she here whatever she will meaning Tundy take care you and love you forever. By the way I’m trying to keep one tundra brother to another tundra brother’s chin up. But talk to her. I do to mine, once in awhile and wife comes in garage and say what, I say not talking to you. She always say oh wait talking to your other baby. I say I’m allowed 2. She’ll fine be brother. I know the feeling. Keep posted on the outcome.

Ya I learned at an early age that getting mad in any situation usually doesn’t end well and gets me nowhere. I try to stay calm and move on. The guy in the Scion said his neck was hurting already. I mean shit he hit a tank compared to his car. Poor guys feeling it.

As for talking to my truck. I do that usually when I’m driving, right before I do something sketchy while wheeling and thank her for getting us thru it after. Or when I’m about to hook it up with some new parts. Or maybe a “ya, look at that sexy bitch right there.” In my head as I walk by her in the morning getting into my work van. Usually after I detail it when it’s all shiny and smooth.

@Jimes, glad your wife is OK. Hope it's not the frame that is causing the tailgate to be off. Might be a good time for a high clearance rear bumper.

Ya me too. She’s a little soar, but ok. Now I have to find a shop to look at it. I’m hoping for minimal damage to frame if any and no damage to the brakes or drive train. The last accident I was in. Was like 10 years ago in my e250 work van vs a 1990 civic. Rear ended the van so hard while I was at the light it broke my brakes and some suspension parts, but didn’t look like it had any damage. So looks can be deceiving for anyone who gets into an accident and thinks it’s not that bad. Another time I was at fault in my 69 el Camino and hit a Toyota Avalon and my entire front grille fell off and his rear bumper had just a scratch on it. Took it to a shop and it was 3500 to fix cause the bumpers were made to absorb the hit and crumble and those parts needed to be replaced, but looking at it, it looked like just a small scratch.

What really would suck is if did get mangled which it didn’t. Thankfully. It would be very difficult to replace my actual model and year and color tundra. Since there was only 305 of the inferno double cab pros made. Damn near a unicorn like the Barcelona red(only 100).
