Youre building your own swing out instead of the one in the kit? I thought the one in the kit looked a bit off myself.

Yeah I’m building my own, shipping is a B from the north. I like to fab and make up my own stuff as much as possible, I’ve still got a whirlwind of ideas inside my head to sort out. I need to make some more gussets and wing supports to beefin it up some.

I didn't see the first gens on their website--is it only through ebay? I keep struggling over the leather vs duratouch or cordura. I'd love to have leather, but can just see having my buddies and I pile in covered in elk or deer or turkey blood. Last year, one of our Wounded Warriors was so covered in blood from carrying his turkey out of the field that he had to ride in the back--and that was in an old beater 98 Dodge.

If you contact the eBay seller he can set you up with a kit. I was worried about trashing the leather too, but it's nice having something to be proud of again. I can get covers for hunting or serious work. The daily experience is manageable and enjoyable with only a few changes in the way I prepare myself for driving. I do wash my pants more often haha. My work is dusty so I would just wear the same pants for days and I noticed my seats collecting some dirt and stuff before the leather. Now I might wear them 2 days and then it's time to wash the dust out. Fu$&in body work, wood working, and router guys are messy.

I see the problem--I searched on ebay for at 2004DC. Sealed lists 05 and up. I know Katzkin has a 2004 pattern--but they don't publish it. Looks like I am back to getting the kit from an installer (I did find a very reasonable one), going to Leatherseats.com, or just getting some of the Duratouch fabric from Ruff Tuff. I have Marathons on my Dodge 3/4. After 9 years, the damned things are absolutely bullet proof. Blood, dog accidents, spills of every kind--but they are totally shapeless.

Wanted to stay away from camo, but may end up there. The truck is going to get a Monstaliner paint job in the end anyway, so leather might be out of place :) Still going with the AMP boards, however.

Did you contact the eBay seller? They didn't have anything listed and I just asked about getting it for my 06. I honestly don't know what would be different from 06 to 04 besides the option is side airbags maybe wasn't available in 04, but I don't think it was standard in 06. It also doesn't do much of anything to the seat covers. I'm betting dollars to donuts that they can get you a kit for an 04 no problem.

I'll drop them a line. The seat bottom and trim is actually a bit different in the 04. Being the bastard step child of a 2003 AC and a Sequoia, there were some differences to be ironed out in the 2005. I'm quite pleased with the 04--but some of the subtle differences make me reach for my glass!

They're from the new taco frame recalls. these were leftovers from the old frame spray recalls.

A quick "what have you done today". Not really today, but over the last month, since acquiring my new to me 2004 DC.
    - New Pioneer head unit
    - LED environmental panel and gauge lighting
    - LED map, dome, door, and footwell lights
    - Smart Tap relay and LED tailights
    - New OEM Lower Ball Joints and bolts
    - New LCAs, new alignment cams on passenger side
    - New SPC UCAs
    - Bilstein 6112s (6th notch) + 3/8 Driver's side spacer
--Initially installed with both on #8, too high and caused the UCA to hit the spring.
    - Suspension Maxx extended sway bar links
    - Bilstein 5160s in rear
    - Wheeler AAL with the factory overload and a 3° axle shim
    - New coils
    - New plugs (oops, did Iridiums, will go back to coppers shortly)
    - Bumped rear fender with tractor while snowblowing, PDR complete :(
    - Removed chrome "fender flares"
    - Removed badges
    - Removed center consoles and cleaned old coffee spills!

Friday should be dark bronze SCS SR8s and 285/70r17 BFGs

Still to come, AMP Powersteps modified to fit, Door molding removal and Monstaliner paint job, grill, leather interior (or durable seat covers), fog/driving lights, possible bumpers, possible 2005-06 headlight and filler conversion.

    As purchased:

The stampings are still very much like ours. Goal is to block any holes up above and on the sides. Do not block holes on the bottom of the frame.
Quality black stickers can also be used

I get that it's your truck and none of my business, but if you don't mind me asking, why the hell would you do that to a perfectly good-looking truck? Inflicting voluntary, permanent, and mostly irreversible damage is beyond my understanding. It the truck was already ratted out, rusty, and dented, then I could understand...but yours looks clean. Inquiring minds want to know...:monocle:

The Monstaliner? First, it looks clean from 25ft, but there are numerous spots where the clear is failing, has about 200 rock chips in the hood, grill, canopy and tailgate (how the heck did that happen?), a couple of deep scratches on the roof, and one spot where there is a significant rust bubble starting on the rear passenger side door. In addition, the right front fender and front door have been repainted as some point and it is a less than perfect blend. Finally, I'm not really a fan of DSM. I could do a repaint--figure $2k for a quality job. I could do a repaint with a color change, figure $3-4k. I can do Monstaliner myself, not worry about the scratches I get from trips to the ranch or when I am guiding, and not lose the money I would lose on a repaint if I ever do resell (won't happen in the near future). I have debated it strenuously over the past month. I paid $10,600 for the truck. No way it will ever be worth $14k+ that I would have in it for a repaint and recolor. At this price point, there are plenty of folks that would not consider a liner job "damage".

I know that 05 and 06 had the little daytime running light thing on the headlight, but what's the " filler conversion"?

In the summer one comes out of work sopping wet. I keep a big towel ("bath sheet") on the seat, easy to toss it in the washer. Keeps seats nice & keeps the seat edge from wearing. Color matched for bonus points.

I use my rig for commuting to different bicycle paths around town. I'm typically hot and sweaty when I finish up and cloth interior soils easily. I use the bath sheet as a seat cover as well !

I was planning something like that or maybe those terry cloth seat covers that come on and off in a jiffy.

That's a ton of work and a really clean double cab. I don't see that color often. I'm anxious to see the SCS wheels on it.

I could be wrong but it doesn't look like you got a ton of lift in the rear from your AAL. Did you happen to measure?

There are 5 differences that I know of, between the 04 and 05+ Double cab headlights. First, the back of the headlight housing is bigger, which requires cutting the hole in the radiator support panel larger. Next, "double bubble" lens on the turn signal versus the smooth on the later models. The signal/running light housing to headlight is slightly different (just a locator tab that can be filed off a later model set. The DRL that you already mentioned. Finally, the inner bottom corner of the headlight has a radius that is slightly different. You can make a set of later model headlights fit the 04 by cutting the radiator support hole bigger--and as long as it is a full set, you can keep the alignment tab between the housings--but you will have about a quarter inch gap in the bottom inner corner unless you change the filler panel between the bumper and the headlight. I believe they mount in the same locations, just haven't purchased them yet to see. This pic shows the gap when the late model headlight is mounted in the 04.
