I'm asking..as I'm not sure...but would a rouge for metal polishing work?? You could test on the inside of the rim.

Dawn is, in effect, a degreaser. I'm not surprised that it did nothing. CG Diablo is a decent wheel cleaner, but very mild in my experience. I'd start with some light compound....Meguiars Ultimate Compound should be locally available. Give that a try and see if it has any impact. Meguiars M100 is a lot more aggressive, and might also be locally available to you, either at an auto parts store, or a paint store that serves body shops.

I'll look into both of these options. I have not given up hope yet. Still wish I could narrow down exactly what caused this issue and hope to have them "clean" again. Thanks for all the suggestions and help.

I finally got an opportunity to try the coverall on my step sides per recommendations within this thread. It went on pretty easily. I have the gallon that I put in a spray bottle. i didn't dilute this one. I sprayed directly on a simple microfiber rag I use to non-paint applications (very low gsm, but can't remember what) and wiped it onto the rails, but not on the actual step pads. Went on very smoothly and evenly and will see how it holds up to the rain expected today in south Louisiana. I use the coverall on my tires as well, and again, it wasn't diluted. You can buy the coverall in a gallon from O'Reilley's, but have to ask for it as they keep it behind the counter or in the warehouse. About $30 a gallon. I have been on the same gallon for around 9 months I think now, and am around 2/3 done, maybe 3/4. Last a while, especially in comparison to the aerosol can that only lasts for a few months.

I actually picked a gallon up on Friday. Should work much better than the aerosol. I usually get a few weeks out of it on the nerf bars. Not great, but much better than anything else I’ve tried. Works well on the Bakflip also.

Wow...seems like Griots never puts their stuff on sale...if I hadn't just purchased a G8 and had a GG6 at home, I'd be all over this

Ya no kidding, I picked up the G8 from AG 25% off, I thought they messed up because it usually doesn’t work with polishers.

Anyone have tips for getting these dots off? Brand new wheels and tires and when I was looking at them yesterday in the garage I forgot they had these on them. I think all 4 have them. I've had them on others before and they were kind of a pain to get off.

my daughter in-law did the same thing, went down the inside of the door and on the front seat floor mat. you will probably have to replace seat covering and maybe more.

May be a stupid question, but I know they say avoid waxing in direct sunlight. Assuming this has more to do with temperature and baking the wax into the paint vs the actually light itself. Just want to clarify before i make a mistake. Plan on washing it today but if I wait until the sun starts to go down, it will be in the 30s at that point.

I always thought it was a heat thing, making the wax dry more and making hard to remove.

If cooler temps, would think you could do one section at a time; hood, roof, sides etc. and be ok.

I just ordered a small bottle of Ceriglass.
I plan on using my new cheapo DA polisher to try to minimize some of the desert sandblasting effect.
    How did you like it?

It was okay but not what I was expecting. It did a very deep cleaning but that was about it. I used a carpro rayon glass pad. I think I need to spend more time and maybe YouTube some ideas my next try.
I really dont see it removing scratches but possibly some of that sandblasting effect that you describe

Hard to say yet, but feels like it’ll be a good option. Just put it on the Sequoia this afternoon. Also put it on my Tundra hood and half a bedside. Applied like pretty much any sealant, added a little gloss, but not a ton. Left the paint decently slick.
Should be getting some rain in the next few days, so we’ll se how it does with that.

One thing I was really impressed with was how little product it took. After a whole Sequoia and a few spots on my Tundra, still had most of it left:

    9428E8D2-D256-40BA-BDC7-40D3AFFBFC3C.jpg

For just 20 bucks a bottle, this may be a winner.
