Complete detailing novice here - new Tundra and slapped some Cooper All-Terrains on the stock 20’s last week. I see a lot of trucks driving around with aftermarket tires that have a darker, richer black look without being gimmicky shinny. Mine already look kinda dull. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Hit that tire with some APC or wheel cleaner, scrub with hard bristle brush, rinse and repeat until the product doesn’t turn brown anymore. Tire clean. For dressing I like Chemical Guys VRP and CarPro Pearl leaves a nice mate finish. Little goes a long way like most detailing products. Water based products don’t last as long. Check out the detailing section in the forum, lots of info.

Best tire cleaner by far is Shine Supply Wise Guy.

My current favorite tire dressing is Gyeon Tire Express. It does exactly what you’re looking for. It gives that nice dark color without the extreme gloss. Applies very well and lasts a good while.

I use Aero 303. It makes the tire black without adding a lot of shine.
There are probably better products specifically for tires, but I get it for free so it works for me.

I’m using Wise Guy wheel cleaner and Decked Out from Shine supply right now. Both products have worked well

Always enjoyed bleach white when I used to clean my tires, even on black walls.

Man this forum is dangerous........Amazon came today . I’m hoping to have a solid kit put together for washing, wheel/tire care, drying and occasional waxing - don’t have a ton of time to commit to full detailing, just the basics I guess. Also ordered Bead. Amer Paint Protectant and Griots drying towel. Am I missing any essential items for a novice?

to clean them...Optimum Power Clean at 3:1 using a Tuff Shine tire brush. I use Griots Black Satin Aerosol to dress them...only aerosol I've ever liked. Goes on a little shiny, but sits down to a nice dark black quickly and lasts several weeks

I’m assuming you meant Beadmaker. Outstanding product and you’ll love it. What do you have for soap?

I’d also highly recommend some Iron X and a Nanoskin clay mitt. It makes a huge difference in the appearance of your paint and helps your paint protection last longer. It’s a little expensive and takes a little bit of work, but it helps a lot and you only need to do it maybe once a year.

You can do a lot of vehicles with one bottle of iron x and one clay mitt. If you’re only doing yours, it will last for years.

Power Clean is some awesome stuff. I use it around the house more than anything though, since I never clean my wheels.

I mostly use Shine Supply Solution for household cleaner, but break out the Power Clean for the tough stuff.

No way man. It makes me feel better that I’m not the only one spending all their money on this stuff. Just wish I could get some commission from these manufacturers. I’ve probably moved a hundred gallons of Beadmaker over the last year.

I have been using the Tuf Shine Tire Clearcoat. So far it has lasted about 3 months and tires look fresh, not glossy, after each wash without reapplication. Had to really scrub the tires before applying though.

I think someone else here was looking at that. @Pudge and I have used the Optimum Tire Coating. It’s the same way, you have to clean the ever loving heck out of the tire first.

    You have any pics?

What's your thoughts on this @War Machine ? I've seen videos that show it to be really good, last a while, not sling, and good price considering the longevity.

I will take some today when I wash the truck to show before wash and after wash, been on about 3 months.

I purchased through detailed image and they didnt carry the Optimum so went with the Tuf Shine. Looks similar, goes on with a bluish glossy tint and dries clear matte. I tried 3 coats on the suv and it was glossy for about two weeks then back to clean matte look after that.
