I’m going to be picking up a Tundra this week. I have three I’m looking at to choose from. What things should I look for on each one to make my decision easier? Any common issues to look for? Must have options?

    Thanks in advance!

    LED headlamps/fogs; interior footlamps.
First off, I like to look really good under their skirts. I bring along my own towel or cardboard to lay on.

The undersides tell a lot of stories.....rust being one of them....accidents being another....parts replaced being a third....

Take the truck on an extended test drive on mixed road surfaces with the radio turned off, listen for thumps, rattles & buzzing sounds.

I have a 2017 and the only “failure” is a split seat cushion, so check the seats thoroughly. Also check the paint for swirls or signs of bad washing practices.

Try to pull Carfax on all three before you go and prep any questions that pop-up when checking Carfax. I think Carfax lets you pay one fee to pull multiple reports for a short time (i think..)

Confirm that the listing pics you saw include all equipment when you test drive (husky mats, things like that).

Get one with the large gas tank! For me, I searched until I found a SR5 with the offroad, convenience and SR5 upgrade packages. I would have liked leather, climate control with the limited trim but I really did not want 20 inch wheels and the limited models I found were going for much more $.

Id look for a one owner, no accident, no rental use truck verified by Carfax. If buying from a dealer, they should already have the Carfax.

Is there a quick way to tell if it has the large gas tank?

Ask if they have a convenience package upgrade, which is an indication of 38 gal not 26. But I would double check that as well.

It is the SR5 upgrade package that includes the 38 gallon gas tank.

Do yourself a favor and buy new.
Get 12% off MSRP plus all applicable rebates and the cost of depreciation per year will be similar to used, you just need to pay more up-front.
Remember, what you get when you sell or trade is as important to what you pay up front.
Plus no problems for 3 years plus no tires or brakes etc. etc.
