Any reusable/washable filter is better than stock. However, you’ll wanna steer clear of one which has a rubber frame around it. I’ve found thst the rubber folds into the box and doesn’t seal to the box.

Don't they all have a rubber frame? Or is it a certain type of rubber?

I got it and have no issues. I also had one on my Tacoma and no problems. The fact that Toyota sells their own gives me a little more peace-of-mind. Go for it! Although now I'm curious what Keith is talking about "rubber frame".... To me, they all have them.

What brands use a rubber frame that folds in?

It's my understanding that the HP gains are only seen if the exhaust side is also more free flowing.

I'd say between that AND at higher RPM's that most people don't drive in under normal conditions. They are still worth it. Never have to replace it and only have to re-oil it every 50k miles. Not bad.

That is a given, we drive air pumps and the air pumped in must be able to be pumped out. :burnrubber:

I have a k&n cone type air filter on my 2000 tundra 4.7 that I designed a cold air intake for over 18 yrs ago and still running it today! I first had it on a 1983 280zx before my tundra. I've probably had it 22 yrs and all I have done is wash it and re-oil it every 25,000 to 30,000 miles.I have put probably 420,000 miles on that filter and it still looks great!! I only use the k&n filter cleaning kit.
