From talking to James you will lose some low end response due to the crossover Hertz uses on the speakers. So he recommends a sub upgrade also if low end is important to you. That is the only reason I am hesitant to do it right now as I need my low end.

Did you have any speakers in the corners of your dash from the factory? If not, then did this make much of a difference in sound?

Like @kameleon said you will lose low end “bass” I did just the door speakers, kind of piece milling my sounds so I’m not dumping money all at once. I have a 2017 CM Non-JBL so there is no stock sub. But even if you were to order this whole kit, doors plus dash you are going to lose that low end.....now the sound from the Hertz is so much more crisp than the stock door speakers...but I plan on getting a sub and amp from him in the future to complete the sound output. I can live without the low end the stock speakers provide for a bit. Hope that helps

Yes sir and I noticed a huge difference in sound compared to stock. Even did the head unit before speakers and the stock speakers didn’t sound much better. The volume was a bit quite.

These were the stock speakers that I removed

I tried ordering just the front dash and front center and I was not permitted. Stated,I needed to buy everything. I had purchased a kit back in November. Will you sell just what I need as part of the group buy?

    Thanks.

He has been offering that but I believe you need to email him for an invoice. See post #28 for his email.

I did the opposite and ordered the three dash speakers first. Communication with James was great through email. He sent me an invoice for those three speakers and harnesses.

I am also very proud to announce that we have the JBL tweeter harnesses in stock now so you will not have to cut the tweeter harness in the door or dash any longer with any of our kits . Thanks to a member in this group one Joe Hayes for hooking me up with the part we needed to have them made my harness guy can now make them. No more cutting at all when replacing speakers in a jbl or non jbl system. That rear tweeter caused people a lot of grief and had them calling me on my 1 day off every single week it seemed. Here is a pic of one jbl tweeter harness 2.jpg

Hmmm... They were kind of a B to get lined up properly but I did get them in... The plugs were correct and they seem to be working fine. What is the correct part number we should look for?

@r8rs4lf - how did your install of the Kenwood dash speakers go?

These are the ones I got a few days ago with the rest of my order. Are these the right ones or should I wait for a different pair to arrive?

Those are the wrong ones, I would email James. If you haven’t gotten a shipping notification yet for the new ones it may have been overlooked. I got my replacements yesterday

They sound good. Significant improvement over the crap Toyota uses. I’m running JL components and was worried about running so many small speakers up front but it works well as I have two subs in back to balance everything out.
I do have an amp but I’m powering these off a Kenwood HU. I think you would need to run new speaker wire to run them off an amp.

As @AZBoatHauler stated they are definitely a VERY noticeable difference over the stock speakers....clear and crisp sound, I still have stock HU BTW....also like Adam stated an amp would not power these as the dash speakers are powered directly from the HU. Plenty of power to them just from the HU...where the Tundra stock system needs the most help from an amp is with the mids (door speakers) and of course adding a sub(s) will help too.

I am almost 100 % the the amp powers these front dash speakers.
When I installed my amp i was playing around with the connections and sound was produced thru amp.

When I was tuning my amp with no speakers connected to it, I had sound coming from these dash speakers. They definitely get signal from the HU in a 2017. They also play for a fraction of a second longer when everything is powering down.

The JBL system may be different I guess....but I know on a non-JBL the HU powers the dash speakers and the under the passenger seat stock amp powers the doors....I think even the HU powers the rear door tweeters on a stock system.
