If you wheel your truck and have never came to a point that you had no idea what is in front of you or what is waiting for you over the hill/ledge your front end is hanging over and have to get out of the truck to check things out then sounds like you do not need it. Also for parking if lifted until you get used to your rig

Curious about the drivers A post handle install.
You guys know that was removed because the drivers head hits it in a crash right?

If that was the case, why didn't they remove the passenger grab handle? A-pillar location is the same, seat position is the same.
Wouldn't the passenger still be at risk on current trucks?
If there was a known safety issue, wouldn't it the countermeasure be applied to protect all occupants?
I'm not rejecting your claim, but would like to better understand your claim

Removing the grab handle is definitely a cost down savings for Toyota

I love my driver's grab handle, and I simply bought the equivalent Sequoia part. Why would they still put them in the Sequoia if it's a safety issue?

Yes, you’re right. Part of the reason why the ‘14+ had poorer safety ratings than other trucks.
The bigger issue actually was the crumpled toe box on the overlap test, but the passenger crash dummy’s head did hit the handle.

“However, the A-pillar intruded into the passenger space to the extent that the dummy's head hit the attached grab handle during the crash.”

    http://m.carcomplaints.com/Toyota/Tundra/2017/safety/
Link above shows a link to IIHS link since my phone doesn’t want to copy/paste IIHS.org address.

    Edit to add: linkage--> https://www.iihs.org/ratings/vehicl...2017#small-overlap-front:-passenger-side-4931

Thanks for posting the link. That is interesting that the IIHS reported the passenger head contact to grab handle but rated it the same safety rating as drivers side.

This is accurate. To improve the crash test ratings, Toyota removed the grab handle for drivers. The safety ratings are based on many scenarios and risks that change over time. It is a numbers game and not a driver vs passenger thing. You always have a driver but not necessarily a passenger. To try and stay relevant with the market conditions, this was a simple countermeasure instead of a major overhaul that I doubt we’ll see until summer/fall 2021 as a 2020 model year.

There was an interview with Mike Sweers at some point which he briefly speaks about the removed grab handle.

Why is everyone doing tonneau covers? Why not just buy an suv?

lift and rims kill the ride, power and economy. But does look bad ass if done properly.

    My list of must haves
    Lift
    Rims
    Trd bars front and rear
    Bed liner
    Tint
    Window visors

    From an offroading perspective:
    1) Skid plates for engine, transmission and fuel tank(stock plates are pretty weak, and the TRD one only covers engine)
    2) Tires, suspension too if you can
    3) Floor mats
    4) Seat covers
    5) recovery gear

That list should be enough to get you in trouble
