OEM is still original equipment manufacturer. OME stands for Old Man Emu.

Start mind melding on the Toyota parts online shops concerning your coils meditations (not to buy, but to study). You’ll see there are differing coils for each model (like between Limited and SR5 w/offroad package and V6 models). Don’t hold me to this as direct knowledge as I’m going by memory, but the Limited has a lower rated coil vs. SR5 off road package within the Tundra class.

This difference in coils (non modded) amongst our trucks is accounts for the differences in how their stance/rake looks. You can see pictures here and on any for sale site. Just start there and you may find you can go to a junk yard and get a heavier duty TOY spring (that actually fits!) and doesn’t cause you problems/grief trying to fit a square peg into a round hole.

Another trick is using Sequoia coils (heavier duty) but may result in hard ride. You can study those too. Please do your own research and meditations. Maybe visit St Barts as tourism is hurting right now.

I know this is a bit off topic, but I see too many mods go south by the reinvention of the square. I am not a suspension expert, but I hope this helps your questions above by saving you some money and frustration via cheap junkyard TOY coils.

Coming from the tacoma side, we were always told NO lift coils with the 5100 since its adjustable. Is this still the case?

Good rule of thumb for the first gen tundras:

Run OME coils with the appropriate OME shocks.

Run bilstein 5100 shocks with stock coils and adjust height accordingly.

Or option 2: Run bilstein 5100’s with eibach coils.

Or Run 5100's with OME springs on the bottom perch which many have done. the OME shocks are junk.

They are? Damn, many people have spoken highly of them throughout the years.

Their made by Monroe, bilsteins are infinitely better by comparison. Old OME were good but in the last 5 years there’s been a marked downturn in quality. This coming from the Tacoma and Land Cruiser community collectively.

The ome shocks ride well. But they don’t seem to hold up. The 5100 is tried and true.
I’m running the 885s on mine and it made the truck level with the back which is factory springs. I think it was about 2” of lift (reg cab)

ride quality is superior to stock. Little
    Firmer, way less sway.

That's disappointing to hear. Are you still putting the parts on your truck since you decided to sell?

I did a lot of research before going with OME shocks/springs and didn't find this quality issue in shocks. Mostly positive feedback (all brands have issues, bilstein included).
Already purchased so ill post feedback in the next 1-2 years as they get worn.

Also, most large manufacturers have different quality of products. Dana has their brand and the SVL brand gears for instance. Mossberg has their shotguns and the cheaper Mavericks. I wouldn't imagine Monroe building these automatically means they aren't any good but I do know how the internet works. 5 people have issues and post on the forums and then everyone reads these 5 peoples experience and the thousands of shocks floating around are immediately no longer worthy.

I know you asked for OME but I just installed a pair of Dobinsons springs on 5100's. Just came from the stock springs on 5100's and they were horrible. No more nose dive while braking, no cadillac boat feeling through turns.
