Hey guys just a quick question, does anyone out here now exactly how to refill the transmission on a 2015 tundra after a pan swap?

I snaked a clear PVC flexible hose through the engine bay. I forgot what size but it fit snugly in the hole. Maybe 7/8 O.D. ? It was cold af outside so it gave me fits as far as kinking, but it worked. Some people use transfer hand pumps too. Either way works. I believe the socket I used for the fill plug was 15/16. Hope this helps!

Thank you it does help much appreciated! Do you remember, did you stop filling once it over flowed or was there a set amount of fluid you used?

There is quite a process to check the proper fluid level. If you look through my thread "2014 transmission maintenance question" you can find out the procedure on a proper fill. There is odd somewhere in the thread. and lots of good info in general on the transmission fluid change procedure. Usually when you drain the pan 4 qts come out, but when you drop the pan, there is an extra half quart or so still left. Make sure you fill you trans to the proper fluid level.

Search on you tube as well I'm about to do this next weekend just picked up a trans filter yesterday. The video I watched was about 20 min long. O think I'm going with the drain amd fill probably. not the flush hole system out . And just do it at least 2 more times after this time to get it all changed. At the end of filling it back up it said it drive it to get to temp the remove over flow plug amd it will drain more out because its expanded from temp and let drain to when it starts to trickle out then put plug back that how it said you know it has the right amount back into the system.

I'll admit changing the filter is "best practice" but when I changed mine and opened it up, it had very minimal clutch material in it. Virtually none. And the magnets had virtually nothing on them as well. Just food for thought before dropping the pan replacing the filter.

Edit: my trans filter had 175k miles on it when I changed it

That process of getting into "temp mode" is crazy.

I would just use your favorite pan temp guage (odb2) to verify the correct temp then remove fill check plug and go from there....

If it's full before you do your drain and fill, can't you just measure how much came out and put the same back in.

Apparently by doing this procedure it somehow also puts the truck into the correct idle speed for the test. Not sure how much difference it makes though.

When people do a complete flush with the hose/funnel do you leave the hose inserted in the fill hole throughout the procedure even while the truck is running? Also how far in do you insert it?

Technically YES you can do it that way. It's the B procedure. But the A procedure has A LOT involved as you've seen above if you watched the video.

That's what I did. Just make sure your truck is level and keep your phone under the truck and wait until it reaches 99F to open the check level bolt.
