    What clicks? The starter?

Can you turn the engine over by hand?

Well, if the starter is new and its clicking but not turning over that usually means bad terminal clamps or wires. Enough voltage to run the relay, not enough to turn the engine.

Try jump starting it with another vehicle as a running vehicle runs a couple volts higher than even a freshly charged battery and may have enough juice to turn it over. Which if nothing else will show that the starter works.

Would not have anything to do with it not turning over.

There’s a good chance you bought a Chinese reman starter and that the solenoid on said “new” starter is bad.

    Jump the starter.

Check voltage at the starter while you are at it.

I know the starter is buried, but if you can find the signal wire in the harness that goes to the starter, that is the small wire on the back of the starter. When the key goes to start position, with a test light this should light up. If it lights up, it's a starter issue. If it does not light up, you have a problem in the starter circuit. You should ALWAYS do this test before replacing a starter.......especially when it's buried under the manifold. Starters that are exposed are easier to test of course. Of course #1, better make sure battery is ok, and all those connection on the positive side are ok. It's amazing what corrosion can do. Think simple. A battery can have 12 volts, but lost it's cranking power, so keep that in mind. So also, with the thought of you can't go any where without a battery, because you know it's like very important to vehicle function.................go buy an Interstate battery, and stay away from cheap crap, and keep your terminals clean........shit....keep the whole battery clean. A dirty battery can cause drain. Note: Interstate has facilities where you can buy batteries not fit for the shelf, because of a scratch or a ding, and discounted.
