I take delivery on my '20 pro in 2 weeks. I know that there are some recommendations in the manual for break in on new vehicles, but thats a generic list. Do you all have any nuanced tips that you recommend?

    Thanks!

There will be break-in instructions in your manual. Everybody has their opinion about what's best but it's probably a good idea to follow the manufacturer's recommendations.

Things like ...don't let it rev high for long periods, vary the rpms (don't drive at the same speed for long periods), no hard acceleration, no towing for the first 500 miles etc...

Nope, just follow the manual's instructions and check your cam towers regularly. Toyota skipped "how to design a proper seal class" on that one. They are known to leak.

The harder you break them in the harder they will run.

The engines at least are already broken in from the factory. Break-in is very important to the longevity of the engine and Toyota warranties the engine for 36,000 miles. Do you think they'll rely on amateurs (consumers) to do the break-in correctly?

    Drive it :burnrubber:

Funny you bring this up. I got my Pro last Wednesday. I have 206 miles on her right now. Going to glamis with my quad on Saturday. Towing about 1500 lbs quad and trailer. I doubt I’ll get to 500 miles by Saturday. She’s not my daily driver. I’m not terribly worried about it. It’s a Toyota. I trust her.....

An old race engine builder, friend of mine used to drop in a new engine he built and take it out on the street and blister the tires. I asked him why he did that and he said if it was going to come apart it would do it right then.
So 2nd light out of the dealership my truck had rubber on the rear mud flaps lol
Do it before you sign the papers lol
    Runs great tow’s
    great no oil issues....

I have owned a lot of new trucks for years and I never broke any of them in.
    I just drove them.

Had one for 10 years and never had an issue.

I never tromped on it to smoke the tires or went all Dukes of Hazard though

I drove my 2019 tundra to the lot with pressure washer traiker in tow. Got the '20 and hooked up the trailer and took off right from the dealership. Been driving it like normal.

Dump the 0-20 a get good ol Dino oil. Drive it at different speeds mash gas a couple of times after and after 300-500 miles dump oil and filter and run o-20 synthetic. Enjoy
