That was my thought to. You can purchase many different colors of tritium. Blue really matched up with the interior dash/controls light.

Anyone with 2018 led headlights on a 14-17 put the resistors on the conversion harness? I was wanting to do that rather than tapping into the factory harness.

no resistors according to this video

Jdmastar bulbs came today. Will install soon to see if I need a resistor or not with 2019 led headlights on 2015 truck wiring.

Turn signals are ecu monitored. Hazards are on a monetary switch. That’s why hazards don’t hyper flash but blinkers do.

I'm interested in this too. I'd like to do the whole new headlight conversion and this at the same time in one shot on my 2017.

So just ordered these for my 19’ TRD Sport. Couldn’t figure out why people wouldn’t acknowledge my turn signals until I came acrossed this thread. Ordered the JDMS just now via Amazon. They’ll be here tomorrow.

Just ordered the Lasfit 7443 bulbs from Amazon. Trying to compare the Lasfits vs JDM Astars and can't find any direct info on which one would be brighter.

Did find even brighter jdm astars from their website in the $30 range. Still cant find any direct wattage/lumens comparison. Probably some trade off as the bulb gets heavier and the chance of the bulb wiggling out in use.

Now wondering if there is a mirror cap with front turn signals built in, not tow mirrors, since I just learned the mirrors are already wired for turn signals? Found these but looking for something cleaner: http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/pr...om-led-turn-signal-review-w-pictures-how.html

I’ve seen some one on here who added cap mirror signals, and it looked amazing. Couldn’t even see them unless they were flashing.

Just installed the lasfit led and they seem plenty bright. Probably any brighter and I'd annoy the person ahead of me. With these, turn signals in the mirrors might be overkill.

I did remove the plug and bent the retaining copper prongs a bit to help keep these in place. Read a few complaints about the bulbs wiggling out overtime.

If the OEM turn signals are incandescent bulbs, resistors will probably be needed on a 2017. That will be especially true if all four corners are being converted. Try them first and see; it'll only take a few days to get resistors from Amazon if you need them.

If resistors are added, and then a light bulb goes out, will it hyperflash to let me know a bulb is out?

Thanks. I did the 2018 led headlight conversion with the ihacker harness. Im only running led turn signals in front.

The linked bulbs should be here today. Hoping to swap them with my current front led turn signals that hyperflash.

What?...You've already installed LEDs in the front and they hyperflash? Prepare yourself for ordering resistors...unlikely that's going to change with a different brand of LED. For fronts only, you'll need one 6 ohm resistor per side.

I picked up the led headlights from another member on here. I installed them using the ihacker harness. I didnt know the previous owner had led turn bulbs installed which is what caused the hyperflash for me. It sounded like others here ran the jdm astar bulbs without any hyperflash, so my thought was to swap to those. I really didnt want to add resistors, but if these still hyperflash then i know what ill be ordering next....

I bought these and installed them this weekend. What a difference!!! Plug and play with no resistors needed on a 2019. I have Videos of old blinker and new one but can’t embed for some reason.

That's what I was hoping for. I installed mine and still have the hyperflash, so now need to order resistors. I read the comments about not needing them, but I guess for a 2017 they are needed. I'm thinking of ordering the VLED resistors. https://www.vleds.com/shop-products/vlr-resistors/turn-signal-resistors/vlr-6-duotap.html

Edit: Just placed the order for the linked resistors.

Got my JDM Astar bulbs today and installed them on my lunch break. If you have smallish hands, you can change them without taking the washer tank and battery loose. I can already tell in daylight they've made a huge difference.

still waiting on my resistors...VLED shipped them yesterday though. They do give off some decent light output for sure.

How did they fit in the sockets? I had a pair of JDM's that came out of my Tacoma before I traded it in. I put them in my new Tundra but they never wanted to bottom out. I used some electrical tape to make sure they didn't fall into the headlight housing.

Didn't have any issues. Granted, I did it pretty quick as it was snowing so I assume it's all good.

Just installed the jdm astar amber front turn signal LED bulbs in my 2020 Crewmax Limited (with OEM LED DTRLs and headlights) and they were plug & play no hyperflash. I tried both the individual flashers and emergency flashers and both work great. Just like the videos, 3-4X brighter. I could hardly see the OEM bulb versus fully visible jdm astar LED bulbs in mid day sunlight. If these last and work in super cold weather they are a gigantic improvement over the OEM.

I had my 17 year old son do the remove and install since he has smaller hands. Keep this in mind if installing since otherwise you will have to remove the battery and washer fluid container hold down hardware to get access. Not a big deal, but easier/faster with the right tool (small handed person) hehe.

It was really bothering me that the OEM bulbs are hardly visible. My son and I both notice that a lot of new vehicles with the "brighter" LED headlights and DRLs seem to overwhelm the turn signals and can be dangerous when stopped to turn or at intersections. It's not just Tundras. All manufacturers and NHTSA should all know better and be testing this effect and turn signal visibility for each year. Some specification needs to change with this contrast safety issue. I won't be surprised to see recalls on this. It's a basic safety issue. I highly recommend these jdm astar LED bulbs(proceed at your own risk) as a safety must have (not a just a mod). Longevity of these LEDs TBD.

Added note: Some manufactures shut off the DRL on the respective side when the turn signal is on. Perhaps the manufacturer wanted better turn signal distinction which this system does. I kind off thought it looks stupid, but it does make the turn signal more visible, just looks weird.

All you fancy guys and your LEDs. I'm still rocking my Sylvania LL bulbs.. Lol
I am getting curious how long they'll last though. Might replace early if I can find em.
