Chrome Cup Holder

Hey All,

new to this but seems a lot of people already painted their chrome cup holder or order AJT’s replacements.

I wanted to see if anyone has had issues with AJTs replacements. Not sure I want to go through the hassle if they don’t last.

I don't know about that, but the piece just pops out.

I'm going to paint mine this summer ... and the other brushed looking cover piece by the shifter.

Was going to paint the chrome shifter surround to, but will probably buy the AJT snap-on piece for that, just to save hassle.

 

Not sure why it would not last, they are bolted in with hardware

 

Someone reported discoloration in the pieces.

which would definitely suck after going through the hassle. Just wanted to see if anyone has had it for awhile and what they thought.

I’m sooo anti chrome and want to knock out the inside before I do the outside this summer.

 

Mine had some discoloration / blemishes. I emailed ajt and they sent out a new set.

 

Yea, I ordered ajt vent rings, key fob, cup holder and shifter rings in voodoo. The color doesn't even come close to voodoo. There's also blotches and deformities in them, looks like stains. We were just talking about this on another thread

Berdine- did you reach back out and get refund?
or a new set? I’d worry blue wouldn’t match up entirely right.

I want to do cement gray but some of the comments (on other thread)just got me thinking to paint the cup holder and call it a day.

 

Yes, I sent an email, a week later they asked for pictures, haven't heard back. I'd be happy if they just send me black ones. I'm looking into tufskinz, they have a voodoo that matches better.

I was going to paint these, but I paid good $ for them. Shouldn't have too

Don't buy Tuffskinz.

You can still see the chrome around the vents, the sides are not colored, blemishes and they look cheap. I got a refund on mine.

After this thread i never paid attention, but ya , i have spots on mine also. I figure it will get dirty and scratched up soon. If it bugs me later i will just send him some pics.

 

The cup holder may be fine, big that piece is so easy to pop out and either plastidip or paint, I don't see it worth buying anything for it

 

I would assume if there're defects or blemishes AJT would send a replacement. Just as @jason.bird said with his set he received. As for colors not matching completely idk if he'd take them back without the buyer paying to return the item. I ordered a cup holder and shifter set in black. Its supposed to arrive Friday. I will update if anything looks wrong. Keeping my fingers crossed.

 

I have the vent, cup holder and shift covers. Mine vent rings cover just fine. I did install them on the wrong vents in the beginning and could see chrome, but when I put them on correctly, no chrome is showing. I am not happy with how the shift cover doesn't cover all of the Grey, but that's my fault for not realizing that before I ordered it. Overall they're not bad. Expensive but not bad. I thought about switching to AJT though.

 

I tried doing that but I suck at painting. Lol. I just gave up and wanted to buy something.
